Re: First Mills Machine HELP

The wrinkle finish is correct. It's good to know my appearance is accurate! I suspect the OP's machine is a bit of a mongrel. The case, we can see is a new home for an earlier 10 stop mech. It's hard to see but I suspect I can see a glimpse of a Shefras roll down escalator which serves no purpose f...

Re: Are Bryans machines overrated??

I've not researched the contemporary retail prices or compared the different manufacturers. However I imagine Bryans were more expensive than the competition. If I'd been an operator I'd have been tempted by Bryans over the others for the following reasons: - Their willingness to do part exchange. V...

Re: Allwin Deluxe info please

The crank lever is disconnected from the central knob, the slide and its con rod are missing too.
Easy to manufacture.
When it comes to Allwins I can only identify Bryan's, Parkers, Oli Whales and Hawtins, hence my recent thread asking about the B.M.Co.

Re: Aristocrat Grosvenor

.... if I remember rightly ( and I probably don't ) the slides are the easiest parts you'd need to convert it to a mechanical version.
I'll bow to your superior knowledge about that direction.

Re: Perfect tipple for any future Coventry Fest

I can't guarantee the ale, but as soon as JC has tied up a few loose ends there will be an announcement on here concerning next year's planned activities.

In the meantime I hope the Baby Jesus slithers down your chimney.

The hopper itself tends to be a hardy chunk of gear but controlled by a delicate set of random looking electrics. I'm not suggestin...
