Re: Just like buses
I think if the Perfecta had been an original made for the UK market they would have found a more elegant solution than the customary enlargement of the coin slot. These are Germans we're talking about, they would surely have manufactured a specific "1d" coin entry.

Re: What's this?
They show up as "Viscount", "Duchess" and "Princess" and possibly other regal or non-aristocratic names. I think they are re-cased Gunter Wulff Beromat type mechanisms with the numbers replace by fruits but I could be wrong. When the German machines were converted or re...

Re: what did they make?
Also interesting that that simple address was enough to get delivered to the right person half way across the USA Chas Becker Saloon Dayton O I don't know if this is urban myth or not but I was once told an envelope addressed as follows was duly delivered quite promptly to the correct recipient WOO...

Re: what did they make?
my jaunt around the world of google with my morning coffee has (not surprisingly) brought nothing firm :dammit: but.................. this prestamped envelope design is U294 and was first issued in 1887 Casper Becker (possibly no relation at all!) started the Becker Brewing Co in Dayton Ohio in 1891...

Bally Bingo Pinball Simulators
I fell into the world of slots when I retired and started looking for a Bally Bingo pinball and anyone who has experience moving one of these machines will know that had they been around in ancient times then Hercules would have had 13 labours not 12. Anyway thanks to some sterling effort by an enth...

Re: Bell-Fruit Gum Company: Fact or Fiction?
I've approached this from a slightly different angle given that Mills was based in Chicago and this was also the home of Zeno Gum (who were making gum for Wrigley before the latter eventually took them over). In my perfect world I imagined that I would discover a manufacturer whose early fruit flavo...

Sega problem 2
Topic merged - Site Admin. In addition to the other problem I was a little aggravated by the handle being loose so thought I'd tighten that while I had the mech out, not realising that the bolt I was tightening was not the problem and its reaction to my effort was to snap. From what I can see it fi...

Sega problems
I took a Sega and a Jubilee Riviera on exchange and promptly stuck them in Ebay masquerading as something on a bandit stand. Sold them both and was just putting a few coins through to make sure all 100% before shipping and the Sega has jammed. After inserting coin it drops into escalator on the firs...

don't know if anyone has had any success with this "boot sale app" as it is advertised. You seem to be able to list without restriction and although it is aimed at the local market, if you search it will give matches further afield, much further afield............... I thought this was int...

There was something very similar on ebay last year and I formed the opinion it was probably originally sited in a hotel foyer in the way that stamp and even postcard vendors were.

Interesting, I'll for check for both those. He did mention the 1p coin mech was jammed with coins because he thought he could fix it by just chucking more in so I think I'll start with that when it comes back.

King of Clubs Coin Mechs
I have sold my King of Clubs and now it's arrived at its new home via courier it has decided to stop working. I am struggling to get photos from the guy at the moment but want to post this asap. It has three coin mechs, 5p and 10p which act simply as change givers. If you put a coin in nothing happe...

oh, my brain has caught up now, I didn't read Paul's post properly so assumed he was the new (proud??) owner, hence my comment on it's well traveled history. Still a bloody awful looking machine though, good luck shifting it.

Re: Unusual 1975 German wall machine on ebay
I'm not sure this hasn't been in Harold English's hand at sometime. He had a habit of sticking the new coinage next to the slot (if that is new 1p, I can't tell from pic) and of typing up "words of one syllable" instructions too. Not sure the "fiffikus" doesn't derive from "...
