The spring on yours would hold the spare slide. alan57 has a later model, with the red screw holding it.
The blue plate with the 2 red screws allows you to alter the position of the left hand lose cup.

So far I have not had anything re chromed. I prefer it to look old. I think shiny new chrome looks odd on a 60 +
year old machine. It's all down to personal taste.
