Re: Levitating Lady

This one? Courtesy of Darren Hesketh's Penny-In-The-Slot Automata and the Working Model (p145). The Miracle Man, c. 1953. An amazing feat of levitation is performed, during which the Miracle Man sits up, turns his head around and waves. The automaton may have originally been cased by Modern Enterpr...

Bryans Tencup win award info

I am researching my Tencup win and want to ask if the graphic under the winning cups always said 'WIN' or were they changed to numbers if you adjusted to multi payout? Thanks to Bryans Fan for the upload of the original round payout info. I have made a mock up but need to resize before pasting onto ...

Where are all the Bryans Allwin Machines…….?

Whilst I understand that since starting to collect, prices have gone mad, there seems to be a real slow down of machines advertised for sale. Do we think this is because people are holding onto them in the hope prices will go even higher, or maybe there is just a shortage of machines coming to marke...

Re: My Erie Digger

So here are some facelift pictures of the crane. It’s been brightened up with a coat of red paint, a mirror has been placed in the back of the cabinet to reflect everything back together with small mirror tiles for decoration around the prize area. I have replaced the glass with 5 mm plexi acrylic f...

Re: Operator dilemma: old Pennies or Tokens?

It’s great to hear from other operators sharing information and stories. That’s what makes this forum so brilliant. I guess it’s all about experimentation. When I take the arcade out it’s always a bit of a show. I completely agree that making the general public part of the experience is what it’s al...

Re: Operator dilemma: old Pennies or Tokens?

Cheers treefrog, I agree with the idiots comment, sadly there are a lot of them out there :-) Many of our events are paid gigs so we actually return the money we raise to the booker to offset the hire fee. I think it varies with socioeconomic factors too. In Warwick £2 is nothing , in Nottingham peo...

Re: Operator dilemma: old Pennies or Tokens?

Very true BP. I can continue with the old pennies if I can get these at 5p each. At least that way if I lose them I am not out of pocket. I really think it will spoil the experience if I move to tokens for my own presentation purposes.

Re: Operator dilemma: old Pennies or Tokens?

Bit harsh saying they are stealing them, as you are selling them and they are buying them...? Of course technically you are right, in the eyes of a punter they are buying the coins.. In reality they’re exchanging their hard earned cash for the coins to use in the machines to play. Unfortunately thi...
