Yes, its a problem leaving bids, as I have learnt over the years at railwayana auctions ( as I collect enamel signs too) as Mr Wall often turns up especially at the Stafford one, the poor sods that I know have left high bids always seem to be 'lucky' enough to get it a their top bid! and yes if you are buying a machine you really need a good look at it before committing yourself before you leave a commission bid, although I have left a bid at EH and got it £120 cheaper than my bid, and the machine was fine, no doubt others might have had a different experience.( I believe an auction house can bid up a buyer but only to the reserve ) lets all have a good day snow permitting, at which venue(s) you choose!

Two men go into an auction, ones got money and ones got knowledge.
When the auctions over, the man with knowledge has money and the man with money?
Has knowledge. !SMARTY!

It seems to be "Whether" to go to one, the other or both.

Some are commenting that the distance is around 12 miles.
It's not 12 miles at 60 MPH.
I know the area like the back of my hand, it could take you 10 mins to find your car in L'Spa and then at least 40 minutes to make the journey.
If you don't know the area then it could be a lot longer.
The Bacon Butties and bar opens from 10 am at Coundon, the car park is outside the door and it's warm inside.

If we see you GREAT! If we don't .... have a great and fruitful time and above all enjoy yourselves and stay safe. !THUMBS!

easy to see you have never been to the town of coventry DB, if it rains in coventry its considered an exciting day, The auction is the high spot of the towns year, another two years and the mayor gives and the two "j's" the keys to the city, which will be handy as there are a lot of people trying to get out !PEEP!

I have just had a thought regarding the EH/ Coventry dilemma, whilst grouting the tiles on my shower !!IDEA!! , I was wondering if the answer to all our woes would be if Steve had a preview of his auction on Saturday 26th.
It would give those of us dithering, a chance to look at the machines in E H and leave an absentee bid, plus cash deposit with Steve, and still go to Coventry on Sunday. A win, win situation.
Come on Steve I know you look at this Forum, what about it??

I think that might defeat the object of his plan which is clearly he doesn't want people to go the Coventry.

I hope this doesn't happen next year, most inconvenient.
I won't be going to either now as short on funds, good luck to all those with the cash to spend!

I am not wishing to take a side on the Coventry v Elephant house situation and clearly very strong views are held on both sides. I have spoken to Mr Hunt last week and he has said he will be available to view on Saturday afternoon I have arranged to visit at around 4pm on my way to Coventry where I am staying overnight and joining the group of people at the Saturday night banquet. The EH auction starts at 1pm and will start viewing soon after 9am so there is time to view and leave a bid before going on to Coventry and spending the day in the warm! I believe that Mr Hunt's auction is totally fair and a bid left will be treated as such, as other members have testified. A last thought Mr Hunt usually comes and bids at Coventry,in fact he bought last years star lot the cast iron footballer so why would he try to destroy our sale? I know that Mr Hunt is a very hard man to contact I have found the best way to get a response is to text but no guarantee's!
