Re: Elephant House Auctions
If anybody gets the chance could they please photograph the instruction sheets glued to the inside steel door/s of the Radio Rifle up for sale this weekend!? Straight on so I can read and remake for my own machine that is under restoration. Thank you!
Re: Elephant House Auctions
What a weird auction today, but I enjoyed it, I guess in part that I bought something and did not spend too much and happy with it.
Prices were very strange, some items very cheap and others the other extreme. In general I would say it was a bandit day, as many of the wall machines and large arcade items went cheap or not reaching reserve, especially the Bryans lots.....

Re: Elephant House Auctions
Any prices? There did seem some nice machines there.. How much did the pussy shooter make?
Re: Elephant House Auctions
Think about £880, I was very tempted as it looked a very genuine untouched machine needing tlc......but have too many already.

Re: Elephant House Auctions
£880 is what I wrote down (assuming it sold). The back casting scene with houses and moon was missing, unfortunately.
Will try to get results up in the Arena this evening.

Re: Elephant House Auctions
One of the bargains of the day has to be 105, the Elevenses door only in working order (£340) and 106 (case for a Bryans machine (£40).... an Elevenses for £390

Re: Elephant House Auctions
Pm, I was going by your original price posts. You did say £340 and £40 at first didn't you? Now it makes more sense.
One of the worst buys of the day was the "Used, Owners Pictorial Guide for the Care and Understanding of the Mills Bell Slot Machine" £122 inc commission , but only £54 new on ebay, from the publishers inc UK postage (cheaper if you have someone in the USA to post it on to you (£44 in total).

Re: Elephant House Auctions
Not sure about £40 - if I'd thought that was the bid my hand would have been in the air. Yes, £340 was where it ended, but no sale as it turns out.
Re: Elephant House Auctions
Elephant House posted the following today. In view of Boris's statement this afternoon what are plans for Coventry?
Coronavirus & Future Auctions
posted: 16th March
During these challenging times we have taken the responsible decision to suspend our auction diary. It is simply too dangerous to risk gathering people together in the confines of an auction room at the present time - particularly as collectors of amusement machines, fairground art etc., tend to lean towards an older demographic, which is more at risk from the Coronavirus. You and your family's health (and ours!) is far more important than waiting a few weeks to buy/sell something.
Future Auction Plans
We are hard at work finishing off our online auctions system, which will likely launch with the Single Owner Collection we have been instructed to sell (see below). Buying and Selling via our online auction system obviously negates the need for our clients to all congregate in one place at the same time, and therefore reduces the current health risks of Coronavirus.

Re: Elephant House Auctions
Not surprised to hear Morphy Auctions just postponed their March 28-29 Vegas Coin-Op auction, perhaps optimistically, until April 25 - 26, particularly as foreign buyers can't get there at present.
Re: Elephant House Auctions
What a difference a day makes, Morphys were previously offering a $100 voucher per person if you attended the auction in person because most of the US collectors think Morphys made a big mistake relocating their coin-op out of Vegas anyway and attendance was way down, even before the current crisis.
