Am I missing something here?

Postby stoxman22 » Wed Jan 06, 2021 4:17 pm

This Machine sold today for £1050 plus commission taking it to just over £1300. I was ready to bid and thought my 500 plus commission would seal it. Is is not just a Mills High top with a added front bit? Is it rare? I assumed it would be a copy as Brooklands is a UK interest.

It's a Tom Boland Brooklands conversion from a Mills bandit - see Boland Black Beauty, Screen Stars, Brooklands, White City...
Used to be sniffed at by bandit collectors when I started, and for years after, but interest in them grew significantly over the last decade.

I'm ready to take a few more Boland machines...

... but not at £1300!

I was interested in that, as the auction wasn't far from me.
Unfortunately, my bid was woefully inadequate...

It will be interesting to see what happens to prices once the recession properly kicks-in. It's a great time to sell at the moment but methinks that it won't last for much longer. Thoughts for a penny?

Agreed - as an example there's 10 Allwins in the Cottees auction in Poole in Dorset on Saturday but no way of going to see them so would have to rely on bidding blind. I sold one on eBay before Christmas but wouldn't risk it again now (especially as it took me 2 months to get a permit !!GRUMP!!

I was also keen on this machine, as although I have the same machine already, this looked very untouched and original. Keeping fingers crossed new owner keeps as is |/XX\|
