Re: BDR Fresh Fruit bandit
Nice. I've renamed the topic to reflect this.
That name also appears on the flyer posted by bryansfan.
It mentions the game was supplied on 6d, 3d and 1d play. I've not seen it on 1 or 3d.

Re: Story of Britain's 'jukebox revolution' preserved
Tim Wonnacott says, "a jukebox at that time cost £237, the equivalent today of about £10,000." But the 1948 Billboard piece has the Music Maker at $1,554.55 and advertises refurbished jukeboxes ranging from $1,309.75 to $2,015. Has the pound lost that much against the dollar?

Re: Billboard Magazine English Coinmen Series
Thank you Dicky for all that interesting background.
Some of this I'd figured out, having read other sources, (including the long life needle). Historical sources have to be read in context. Industry promotional publications, like Billboard, are primarily written to sell, while appearing to inform.

Re: Story of Britain's 'jukebox revolution' preserved
The explanation is on Karl's website here: 1946 The Hawtin’s Novelty Company ...the Hawtin’s brothers met with Geoffrey Norman Ditchburn and a deal was struck to sell the Jukebox business. Ditchburn took over the premises at Marton Road Blackpool later that year... In short, having launched the 'Br ...

Re: Casino Belle
Hi Jindy,
I don't know a vintage one arm bandit called Casino Belle. If you tell us who made it (and post an image if you can), we can advise.

Billboard Magazine English Coinmen Series
Billboard Magazine ran a three part series in which prominent insiders described the British amusement machine industry's circumstances in the immediate British post-war period. Coppinpr brought our attention to number 3, August 7, 1948 (Tom Boland). I've dug out number 2, July 31, 1948, which ...
