Re: Text and picture alignment

OK, this sounds eerily like the Museum picture alignment issue on Safari/imacs dealt with a year ago (hence the topic merge). I'll look into it today,

Re: Miracle restoration! Backglass for a Roto-Pool

I've seen and played with AI that rescues low resolution images by inventing the missing information, but it just hadn't occurred to me how useful this could be for vintage slot graphics. Very ingenious!

Re: The Forum's yearly check up

Thank you JP & Arrgee. What I did see at the forum is that almost no one is logged in. Now there were 70 guests and three people logged in. Do people want to stay anonymous these days? I guess many visitors don't need to sign in or register to post a question because the answer's already ...

Geo-blocking

I have somewhat reluctantly geo-blocked areas of the site to reduce unwanted traffic and hackers. Unless you're in a country that's both non-European and non-English speaking, this should not affect you. I've also added bot filtering for similar reasons.

Posts per page increased

I've upped the number of Forum posts per page from 10 to 20. It's been 10 since the old days of dial-up modems when page and image loads were vastly slower. Only downside is that reference in posts to other posts by page number are messed up (unless I get around to changing them).

Re: Jennings Continental identified

From pachitalk forums : From what I've learned so far, this machine was made in 1964 and I think this was the only and last year they were made. The Star Chief is a variant of one of the Continentals that has a star on some of the fruit symbols. If 3 of the same fruits line up with a star on them th...

I agree. I gather a maximum four year prison sentence, and fine of $100,000 is considered proportionate.

With the Examiner in mind, I'm reminded of another reason extreme rarity often doesn't equate with high value. Some are exceedingly rare because they were NBG. '!'

who knows…… I do. I posted a piece in the Arena about quiz machines some years ago (got lost in the transfer), which included a description and patent link to this game. I've now reinstated it (with the new pictures added). The 1934 patent GB414719 for "coin freed personal knowledge tes...

Re: Fruite Whirle

Agreed. What's more, such machines don't get onto 'must have' lists because collectors don't know they exist. However, these days so little goes under the radar, if such a game turns up in a saleroom, and its merits are obvious, it will do well. To assess the value of a piece with no established mar...

Re: Can anyone ID this machine?

Ah, OK... The Penny drops. I didn't know Pete Barson made this one, but looking at the close-ups showing modern screws, cheap Chinese lock and shallow chamfers around the door, that rings true. Those are the coin slot, return and trigger recasts he used on some of his other games. See Reproduction B...
