Re: Welcome back Pennymachines
Got to be honest, selling three of the same machine for a nutty price is not a sales strategy I'd expect to succeed

Re: EH / Collector Connector sales
I didn't get to see them sadly but if they are that smooth perhaps they are a bit too good. Hard line with restorations, dammed whatever you do sometimes.
I just find it odd at times what gets a forum talking and what doesn't.

Re: EH / Collector Connector sales
Very surprised to see no comment on the outstanding prices achieved for the three Bryans Magic Machines at the weekend. £15,500 plus commission, and they are staying together.

Re: Saleroom roundups
If you listened live to the auction, I do recall them being described as challenging projects or something of that order. I rarely buy without viewing at any auction. It is also becoming more and more common to have separate viewing days to sale days with some auction houses which makes life harder ...

Re: Crazy auction weekend
I've got an auction next week where I can't view on the bidding days.... so I have to travel from Cambridge to Oxford to view and then back again to bid, or I can pay an online surcharge (an extra 2%) and bid from home before going to collect. Its all a bit arse about face, but it's progress I'm told.

Re: EH / Collector Connector sales
And viewing is most welcome, I've been over to Steve's regularly and he's always very helpful and straightforward.
In fact a guided look around the machines is actually better for me than attending a sale.
I am fairly local though so it doesn't bother me massively but it has to be local to someone!

Re: Operator dilemma: old Pennies or Tokens?
We use tokens for the rides at Dingles, and have automatic token dispensers on cash / contactless card. The plan is, when we get around to the Old Penny Arcade convert the oldest dispenser to old penny size and order tokens from the supplier (whose name escapes me). I believe for us this will be fai...

Re: Cottees Auction of coin operated Machines
Or (and this is a revolutionary idea), why not just advertise them at reasonable prices and see what happens? Seems to me everyone wants top dollar, central location, minimal commission. It ain't gonna happen. I am actively looking to buy some machines at reasonable money and there is nothing in Cot...

Re: Cottees Auction of coin operated Machines
And there you go, all the banging on about in person auctions..... someone holds one and it's 'too far'.
It would appear to be a no-win situation, and in such a niche world you aren't going to get many 'having a go'.

Re: EH / Collector Connector sales
Thats how auctions work.... It doesn't always seem to affect prices. Find somewhere else to sell the stuff. Naff all gets offered on here, ditto Facebook and Ebay has the odd gem but is mainly full of shite. There is a reason auctions work, it brings large numbers of buyers together with the promise...

Re: EH / Collector Connector sales
Got on well with CC. Bought several machines and bits. Service pretty good, but patchy when Steve is trying to juggle a bit too much. It doesn't bother me really as its a place to buy things outside of Ebay and get an honest opinion from someone who knows as to the quality of the item. Steve was unw...

If the chap was selling DVDs of the museum, is it worth getting excited about the 6 he'd likely manage to sell?

Re: Edistan Automatics Skittles
I've spoken to the chap on Facebook. The electrics look in good clean condition from the limited photos, though there is evidence of wood worm around the frame for the viewing area. He'll pop it on a pallet for £130. £400 delivered didn't sound out of the way but I have no time or knowledge of how t...

Re: Fairground Heritage Trust Arcade
Just to answer a few questions specifically with the FHT. As a charity we accept donations and we are different from a private collector in that we intend to exhibit everything in working order wherever possible for the public good. It isn't about making money when it concerns the collection, though...

Re: Fairground Heritage Trust Arcade
Well we have a captive audience and part of the purpose of the arcade areas is to keep those not on the rides entertained (whilst those that like the rides buy more tokens and carry on whizzing round). So a 2p area of more modern pushers and novelties, a 10p area mixed with bandits, and a few modern...

Re: Fairground Heritage Trust Arcade
That is all quite useful and interesting information. I could do with finding a Wheel Em In for 2ps, and ideally something like a Flippa Winner for a bit of variety. Anyone know of something in the right part of the world? I can find loads of things in the East of England near me but none near Devon!
