Re: David G Smith Auction

The start of the auction did not inspire confidence with the technical difficulties. I figured out you needed two windows open to be able to watch the auction and bid.

I'm glad the vendor was happy.

Re: David G Smith Auction

Most of the Mutoscopes went for between $4,000 and $8,000 when the 21% buyers premium was added. Some other game prices were high, others low in my opinion. I bid on about half a dozen machines but I held back, as I was not able to inspect them. Freight was quoted at $850 for one machine to be ...

Re: Videos of the Secret Town Arcade private collection

Fantastic Tim. Some great videos there, particularly the rifle game line-up. I had a decent collection of rifle games 30 years ago. I still have a few, but the first three you show are probably my three favourites. I still have Coney Island, but miss both Bonanza and Shoot Out. Haunted Mansion is ...

Re: Where to next?

Be great to have a full report with some pics after you return. Other Aussies, and in fact people from all over, would be interested in what penny arcade destinations are worth a visit.

Happy Travels.

Re: A really Sad Story

Hey Roger, not a lot to go on... Ken had many machines with curved glass. He loved cigar vendors and quite a few of those would suit, plus other early vendors. I guess you are alluding to the Roovers Donkey he owned in the curved glass case, only two known examples. But the crazy story I know was ...

An amazing collection Tim. Just watched all of your videos. My favourites: The gun games, Mutoscopes & viewers and the animated pinball back glasses.

Re: Mutoscope Stand!

So pleased to learn that this book is actually happening Larry. As a 30+ year friend of Bob, and admirer of yours (just flicked through your 1995 Pinball Price Guide again last night), I can't wait to order a copy. In the pre-internet days, Bob followed up every possible antique coin-op lead he ...

Re: Scooby Dooby Scopitone

I had a Scopitone for some years and still have some of the 16mm film clips. The IB Technicolor in these is dazzling (OK, so is Joi Lansing too). A few cinemas here had them in their foyers in the 1960s.

Re: Coin operated stereo viewers

Just revisiting this fantastic thread with so much great information contributed by everyone. An amazing find sentimental salvage. Given one of the machines shows pre-decimal currency, it would not have been operated since before 1966. Constantly amazed what turns up here in Australia. As a matter ...
