Re: Carters Steam Fair

I am pretty sure that until lockdown last year, Kevin operated with Carters throughout the season.

Re: Octagonal mutoscope rarity?

Five? That's just greedy!
Are the stands just as rare over there as they are here?

Re: Octagonal mutoscope rarity?

They were produced over a very short period of around three years - from late 1890s to around 1901, but in pretty large numbers. I would suspect far more than ten have survived in the UK. The real rarities are the stands, of which I've only ever seen two.

Re: Lost Ruffler & Walker racer

Very nice, especially being the first to surface, could quite possibly be unique.
I notice two things:

1. It's going backwards, and

2. The slide mech would seem to imply that there's no coin return,

A very nice find though !THUMBS!

Re: Electrickery bits and bobs help needed.

There's a reason I asked if it had three leads coming out of it..........it's because I thought it would have -/00\- It's a suppressor. Your problem was actually solved in this thread a while back: https://pennymachines.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=7179&p=26530&hilit=suppressor#p26530

Re: Electrickery bits and bobs help needed

Are there three leads coming out of it? Looks like it could be a suppressor....

Edit: in which case, either replace it or cut it out.

Re: Essex Greyhound Racer identified

Yes, it's another version (almost certainly later, given the more utilitarian style of the metal case). Actually, it's not another version as such - it has an original Essex mech. that was re-cased by Ruffler & Walker in the 1950s. This particular machine was owned by John Hayward until auction...

Re: BMCo 5 Cup

I also noticed the spandrels. Although these appear to be genuine BMCo, wasn't this design normally reserved for the larger allwins?

Re: Coventry or Collectors auction

Sorry, but you're all missing the point. Any refund for the venue is frankly irrelevant - I can live with losing a hundred pounds or so. But who pays for my time? People really do think that it all just 'happens' on the day. Well, it doesn't. An enormous amount of work goes into every auction, many ...

Re: Coventry or Collectors auction

Sorry Tom, I did see that you'd mentioned a 'Summer Coventry' recently on another thread - I had intended to reply but have a lot going on at the moment and it just got forgotten. Anyway, I have two major problems: 1. Just over a year ago, I got my fingers very seriously burnt having totally wasted ...
