Re: Help wanted identifying a couple of machines

On the bright side, what should I expect to pay for a BRYANS BUMPER? No, I don't have it in sight, yet, but I'm going to my grave believing one or more is here in the States. You don't have one yet? You should have been in Colwyn Bay a few years ago. That's where all us UK collectors got ours from.

Roll-A-Top

I know there's no accounting for prices at auctions, but I was interested to see that a Roll-A-Top fetched 5000 Euros at a slot auction at Chartres France last weekend. I wonder why there was no serious interest in the one at Coventry, seeing as how it was given star billing. It even had all the ext...

Re: Coventry Auction - 29 November 2009

Well, firstly, that may start to deter some people from holding on to their bidding slips and bidding on later items...not in the interests of the sellers or the auctioneers. Secondly, I can just see a mass of bidders who have handed in their bidding slips congragating around the auctioneers platfo...

Re: Coventry Auction - 29 November 2009

OK I've had this fantastic idea - you'll love this. :D We've all got bidder numbers, right? When somebody has finished bidding, he hands his bidder number in. This automatically prevents him from bidding on any more lots. These numbers are all stacked up in the order in which they were handed in. At...

On the contrary, it provides an interesting diversion, and makes extra space on the tables for sitting on. :D

Re: Coventry Auction - 29 November 2009

just one point its a pitty that there wasn't a half way bit where people could pay in like there use to be, if some one buys a machine say lot 50 and spent up he has to sit there to see another 200 odd lots to be sold and the queue at the end wouldn't be as big to pay in. I strongly agree with this...

Re: Coventry Auction - 29 November 2009

Yes, it was a great auction, probably the best for many years. I must remember to bring a torch with me next year though.

Yes. I tried to say it once, but became hopelessly tongue-twisted. It's not as easy as it seems.

Re: How do you get the reels to kick / spin faster? Please!

I don't understand how adjusting the speed of the clock makes the reels spin any faster or slower. Surely it will only affect the cycle time of the machine. :?

Am I missing something?

OK I tweaked it. Better now?
Still some work to do.
Just testing it. It still looks the same to me. :?
Try tweaking it anti-clockwise.

That's because they're ugly and look like a stainless steel bread bin. :P

What's happened to the Quote Function? When quoting a previous post, the quote comes up in enormous black letters on a white background. This makes it look as though the quote is far more important than the reply (which in some cases it is, but that's not the point). Call Web Site Repair Man. Blime...

No. 6mm is the diameter of the thread, not the top. The head would be about twice that diameter.

Re: PlentyWin

It's all very well taking the p155 out of these long-winded and sugary romantic descriptions on ebay, but it has been shown time and again that long descriptions like this fetch higher bids. As long as they don't deliberately mislead, I don't see a problem with waxing lyrical about an item for sale....
