Re: Mystery Metal Label Stamper

I'm sure there was one at Battersea Funfair too, probably around 40 years ago. I remember turning that big dial and ending up with a metal strip embossed (like a Dymo label) with my name. Eeeeh... I'd forgotten all about that machine.

Re: Allwin Skill

After a morning following Mrs Pudding around the January sales yesterday, I think I now have a slightly deeper understanding of Chaos Theory...

Happy New Year everyone!

Re: Allwin Skill

Isn't this why Bryans invented the variable pressure device that changed the pressure of the hammer spring after a payout? I would imagine they found that a seasoned player could slightly tilt the odds by finding and getting used to an optimum pressure.

Possibly.

Well, I would probably have bid higher than the final price on the Gapwin that just finished if I could have seen who I was bidding against (or at least I would have done if the seller had bothered to answer my question about serial numbers...). I really think ebay have taken one big step backwards ...

Ebay's anonymous bidding... Grrrrr!

Does anybody else here hate ebay's new system of keeping bidders identities secret? As far as I can see it just makes it ten times harder to spot shill bidding. It's certainly discouraged me from bidding on some items!

If you look closely you'll notice that I did put numbers on but they kind of got lost in the resizing of the image... they go up to about 800 I think so shouldn't be too much of a challenge for you! :D

It so happens that I will probably be in Coventry on the evening of the 11th so I could stop over for the auction the next day... perfect! Nothing to sell I'm afraid (except perhaps a nice Mutoscope that doesn't really fit in with my collection) but I'll certainly have a bid if there's anything that...

Can anyone tell me what the Grand National was like & how much it went for?

Also, webmaster, are you going to put up a list of sale prices in the Arena?

TIA

No Bumper? Thank cripes I didn't go, that would have been the only reason I'd have made the six hour round trip. I'd have been fuming!
