Re: Let's see what he could have won .......

I should like to be the first to welcome the new Pope and pledge my full support
for him in his task of rebuilding the trust lost following the recent child sex scandals
that have plagued us.

I think that was brilliant, just brilliant. You've obviously missed you're true vocation in life.
I sat and watched it quite entralled, brilliant. !THUMBS!

Trick or treat?

It's that time again, but this year I'll be ready when the kids come round in their scary costumes.
I'll get my revenge 'cos I'm gonna answer the door wearing my Jimmy Saville outfit. :!:

Re: Bringing them back from the grave!

Hi Coppinpr, just like to say that I completely agree with your views on collecting. Where's the pleasure in buying an expensive machine, sticking it on the wall and just looking at it? Or buying a machine solely with the intention of selling it on for a profit. That's not being an enthusiast .In th...

Re: Bryan's Flecked Paint Style

Puff pastry?......PUFF PASTRY? .....Oh my dear fellow how common. No the pie in question was a tasty teatime treat from the esteemed Messrs Gingsters, well known in these parts as purveyors of fine pasties and pies to the gentry. On the day in question I slipped my pie into the microwave and waited ...

Re: Bryan's Flecked Paint Style

Today I emerged from my shed.....sorry, Design and Technology department, with this, the mark 1 paint splatterer. Any resemblance to a bent bottle brush stuck in a wooden box is purely coincidental for this is a precision made paint flicker capable of splattering paint over anything that comes into ...

Re: Bryan's Flecked Paint Style

I was pleased to read your post and the results look pretty good to me. I've also just started on a bullion that I got from Coventry and am at the repainting stage currently experimenting with different splattering techniques. My best effort so far is with an old toothbrush dipped in paint then usin...

Re: Not sure if this is the right category

Many years ago when I was a young lad of 21 I met a beautiful girl and fell in love. We went out together and for a while life was good until one day after a few weeks we had an arguement about some stupid insignificant thing and split up. I was heartbroken and wondered what I could do to win her ba...

Re: BINGOLA Auto-Electric OVERLOADS

Hi Stuart, Yes I am still here, just trying to keep my head above water but below the parapet. Glad that you were able to make use of the thermal cutouts though I didn't realise that they needed rewiring. Anyway I didn't manage to get myself anything at Coventry this time, perhaps I'm getting a bit ...

Re: Oliver Whales Allwin

Now we know the going rate for Olly Whales allwins I am reluctantly planning to auction my chocolate machine. Apparently there are not many of them around now so I expect the bidding to be brisk up to the £3000 mark followed by a last minute surge with the lucky winning punter coming in with the £46...

Re: Any Aristocrat owners out there? Coin mech question

Hi Malc, I think you may be mistaken as regards reel symbol alignment. I haven't worked on an Aristocrat but guess it's the same as a Sega. The reel is clamped to its spindle and moving it will alter its position with regard to the reel disc, not the reel symbol. The reel will still stop in the\same...

Fame at last.

What exciting news! Mechanical Memories Museum is to be on the tele, and not just any old tele but national BBC prime time tele. The One Show no less is coming to town. I can see it now, all the machines and Jerry there at the helm. But wait Jerry, you need to be prepared. With all this fame and exp...

Re: HELP! wanted with Roto-Pool

Hi Slotalot, I've just caught up with this thread after having computer problems this last week. I bought a Rotolite at Coventry in November and am just about getting it finished having had to work out a new circuit diagram. I'm also in the middle of writing an article about "my latest restorat...

Re: Sega Payout

Hi Mr Simzee, I've done three of these bandits and each time I go to reassemble the pump I have to look at the previous one to remind myself how it goes. But basically you'll find that when you pull the handle the pump linkage pushes the piston into its cylinder (undamped ). So the leather cup needs...

Tricks of the trade

I'm interested in the tricks used by operators and manufacturers to stop their machines from paying out. I've heard about bandits being doctored to prevent them landing on the jackpot, you know the sort of thing, but I've just stripped down a Sega Bonanza Star and found a metal plate that looks to b...

Re: Getting a handle sleeve off bandit

Hi Malc, I did my Diamond 3 Star last year and that handle sleeve or boss was as you describe. What I did was make a tool out of a piece of wood with two nails driven through it and the points ground off so that the nails engage in two of the holes in the boss. Then you can twist it to undo the thin...

Re: Sega paintwork

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. I've spent the day checking out paint and experimenting. I tried taking a picture but it didn't really show up very well. The two chips are pea sized on the centre red panel just below the escalator window. My local Dulux paint centre confirmed that it was orig...

Wrinkle paintwork

Hi all. Does anyone have any bright ideas on how to reproduce the crinkly paint finish on a Sega bandit? Mine has a couple of chips smack in the middle at the front that I'd like to try and touch up. I've experimented with spongeing and stippling and so on but I think it will stick out like a sore t...

Dear Mr Ballymad, I have two Bally service instruction and parts catalogues for machines of 1968 and 1973 which I bought some time ago when I was gathering information from all directions about bandits. You are welcome to them if they are of any use to you, they won't be to me as this electrickery s...
