Re: Bally (Super) Gold Award - maintenance

The Beau extension lead is exactly what I was proposing in the very first post of the thread. Someone else in the thread said they had never heard of such a thing and almost implying it was unnecessary. I remember seeing one of these in the late 60s, though I was not sure whether it was made by Ball...

Re: Bally (Super) Gold Award - maintenance

There is no hopper on the 776. Why do you mention that?

Very puzzled.

Re: Bally (Super) Gold Award - maintenance

OK now I understand the confusion when you refer to reed switches. Reed switches are magnetic switches operated by the proximity of a magnet. The switch is usually enclosed in a slim glass tube. There are no reed switches on the Bally 776. reeed-switch-400x126.jpg I don't need to know the winning sy...

Re: Bally (Super) Gold Award - maintenance

Sorry for the last comment...I was very unclear. What I meant was, "What is the winning line of 3 symbols that starts the sequence of 4 sequential Gold Award opportunities which only require a single Gold Award symbol on the winning line to give a Gold Award payout?" Longwinded but hopeful...

Re: Bally (Super) Gold Award - maintenance

Another puzzle is that on my paxolin boards the lower curve of contacts seem to correspond to the Super Gold Award function. Those contacts on your machine don't seem to be connected at all?

Do you know what instigates your Super Gold Award sequence?

Curiouser and curiouser.....

Re: Bally (Super) Gold Award - maintenance

I'm also puzzled by your earlier reference to "reed switches". I can't see any on my machine.

Re: Bally (Super) Gold Award - maintenance

Your machine looks quite different in places compared with mine. For some reason I can't seem to get the photo orientation correct? My paxolin (personality?) boards look quite different. I think my wiring looks to be original. It looks to me as though your wiring has been modified (not factory-neat?...

Re: Bally (Super) Gold Award - maintenance

Good work! It is the schematic/wiring diagram/circuit diagram/electrical diagram that all 3 of us are after. I would be certain that these diagrams will have vertical and horizontal axes marked something like A to J and 1 to 17. It is those "grid references" that are used to locate the var...

Re: Bally (Super) Gold Award - maintenance

I have also been looking for a copy of the 776 (Super Gold Award) Schematic. I have the Manual 200 which covers the 776 and other related models. This manual has "Circuit Function Charts" that are full of grid references (eg A-6, E-11, G-5 etc) that are used to locate components on the (mi...

Bally Super Gold Award : Coin meters source?

Topic merged - Site Admin. Now that I have a Bally 776 Super Gold Award bandit, I would like to complete it by sourcing the missing 3 counters ("Coins in", "Coins out" and "Gold awards out"). The Bally part numbers are 2 off e-130-10 an 1off e-130-13. The picture below...

Re: Bally (Super) Gold Award - maintenance

Hi,
I'm sorry I'm not really a collector. I have restored (and kept!) a non-working Jameson Electrodart (ciruit diagram already uploaded to this site). I have now started work on repairing/restoring a Bally Super Gold Award.

Would beer tokens (£) do instead?

Re: Bally (Super) Gold Award - maintenance

Yes that's right as per my initial post. I already have the 18 way male plug but have been unable to find a source of the 18 way socket with the 2 round sockets on the middle row.

Re: Bally (Super) Gold Award - maintenance

Thank you for the information. The thing I would really like to get my hands on is the 18 way socket that you show in your last photo. I already have the plug but I'm missing that matching socket. Would it be possible to buy it from you (so that I can make up a service lead....to check the electrics...

Re: Bally (Super) Gold Award - maintenance

That is interesting. I wondered what the PE logo was about. I did wonder why all the manuals talk about hoppers....

Does that mean Belly light box fluorescent changing was easier in USA....or was that a pain as well?

Thanks for the info

Re: Bally (Super) Gold Award - Removal of Belly Glass

Hi I have had this problem a few times. It can be very stubborn. I have always found get it warm with an hair dryer, but not hot. Chances are, a cloth tape has been used to act as a gasket and gone hard and stuck it to the frame. The heat should soften it. Replace with a few layers of p.v.c tape. S...

Re: Bally Gold Award Belly neon/flourescent tubes

I think you are right T5 (5/8") is more likely than T8 (8/8=1"). The top panel display tube is definitely T5. I should have been more clear: My bandit runs from 240v. It connects to a step down transformer that makes the whole machine work, as it would do in USA, from 110v. The belly light...

Bally Gold Award Belly neon/flourescent tubes

Hello again, I need to find replacements for the two flourescent tubes located in the 1960s bandit's belly glass. I'm fairly sure they will be 12 inch 110v tubes. (The bandit operates at 110v through a 240v transformer... for the UK market). I have replaced the (US) starters but with no luck. Findin...
