Re: You be the Judge

I am sure skulduggery has gone on for years at auctions from hiding items people don’t want others to see, pilfering, through to swapping lot numbers……when I have pointed things out to certain auctions houses, they often show little interest…

Re: Sega token?

Yes, it is a beautiful machine with original paint and amazing chrome. I've parted with many machines over the years but this is one of 3 bandits I’ve kept. I’ll send you a pm regarding those tokens thank you grains. It is a lovely machine  …..is the top glass a later copy as the black seems ...

Re: Essex Football & Ahrens Great Polo Game identified

Not sure if this is allowed so if not please delete … I’ve decided that sadly a lack of time is going to prevent me doing this once justice. With some regret I’ve decided to let someone else have a shot at breathing life into this lovely thing. I’ve therefore just popped it on eBay. Wanted to let y...

Re: Sega token ?

Yes, very similar to Mills gold award tokens and if you had searched on this site, list of examples….
They sell for around a fiver each when appearing on eBay.

Re: Picking locks

Before I assume anything, have you lost the key and it is locked…… Best best if you can is to try getting in through the back if screwed on… You can sometimes lever the door open without damaging the wood or try getting someone to pick it. They usually have between three and 5 levers, depending on t...

Re: B Firman & Co. products

This version like the below one sold the other week at Taylor’s. It was suggested to be Firmans. Another sold at the Elephant years ago. You can see the off centre jackpot and incorrect I believe early Jennings handle on this.

Re: Essex Football & Ahrens Great Polo Game identified

Looks like you got the cabinet panels for both machines. Would they not sell the Polo? !PUZZLED! The frame looks good and if seized, a combination of a good soak in a solvent and maybe use of heat could help free parts, just not at the same time. I remember the Spicer football game a couple of years...

Re: Dingles Fairground Museum

It will be interesting to see how much of the fairground stuff ends up on display and wonder if the amusement arcade will move as well… Time will tell… Still, gives me an excuse for a short break on the motorbike to Devon and Somerset.

Re: Extraordinary Escalator

Mills used a spacer like below on most on their machines. Theoretically you can get away without, but need thicker glass otherwise the jackpot will have a gap. You are missing the token arm that is in the mechanism. Was this mechanism originally on this machine? If not, it may not support one, as th...

Dingles Fairground Museum

With rumours about the long term future of Dingles having been around for a while, I see a formal announcement was made yesterday. The site closes at the end of this season in October. Part of it is moving to railway museum in Staffs and rest into storage in another museum in Hampshire. For years I ...

Re: a tricky ID question for the Gurus

I was thinking the cabinet looks similar and has the same badge at the top, but looking closely it looks like there’s is a possible allwin door or game in it, as you can see spandrels, gallery and spiral track, unless my eyes are playing up again.

Re: a tricky ID question for the Gurus

Looks like a Matthewsons Mermaid case target game, if real and a Big Game next to it.

The Bryan’s is an All Sports.

Can’t see back properly.

Jingle,

That is the best looking 2 player game ever.

I reckon the Polo is an Ahrens machine looking at the controls… Why don’t machines like this fall on my lap? :#:

I wonder if it is an Essex football machine looking at controls, but don’t think they did a Polo...

If cheap, snap up, even if just for parts… Lotta work there.

It is a safety slide. So as long as it is held back by the safety lever, the answer is no….

Can’t see the break. Is it on the left? Looks still together.

Yes, must be a later version of the Hellomat and, as you say, a conversion. Maybe the change vendor was added.

Yes, I understand the right hand glass was cracked as well I haven’t bothered with many of the recent auctions up north, but decided to take a chance and went up early today, leaving at 5am to get into Louth at 8.30… Their website said they opened at 9am, so hoped a quick glimpse before the auction ...
