Re: Streets Wheel Em In identified

I have seen some older Streets Wheel Em In machines with a vertical rubber conveyor belt right at the back, about 8 inches wide, with rows of short brass spikes in zig zags across the belt (several inches apart) ... 18 months late to the party but whilst I don’t have any photos, I remember exactly ...

I misunderstood your message. I thought you meant looking for the bandits. Lockdown fever!!! '!'

Not Southend but Shoeburyness (nr. Southend). I went looking for the firm once but they had closed down years ago.

Great machines and very reliable!

Early in this thread I cautiously stated these machines were made by or for Ruffler and Walker and this one turned up with a JWS logo on...
There was another re-vamper of Beromats in Shoeburyness. I can’t remember the name. Any takers? !PUZZLED!

Re: Why so many Jennings Governors....?

Wow! Thanks for the update Tammy. Where was this location and can you get me one for £25?

And by the way, the Morris jokes show that there is much humour and merriment in a lockdown situation although I thought alcohol was supposed to be served? !PUZZLED!

Re: Why so many Jennings Governors....?

Good point Treefrog, although probably late '60s, as they had big holes in them. The Jennings were so reliable so I don't think reliability or ageism saw them leave the stage early. Interesting to hear about the London gaffs using Mills and Aristocrats though. As you say Coppinpr, maybe it was just ...

Re: Bally Gay Cruise running on unusual coin

Perhaps a Bally thread could be started. I like the Phonographic 'Gold Award' conversions, but I also have a couple of Blue Stars, a Greaves 'Showman', a RIO and a couple of others. 'Sir Prize' and 'Bullseye' are on my want list. Like the idea Brigham but creating the thread is way beyond my pay gr...

Re: Tin Pan Alley

I remember vividly playing the exact machine that coppinpr has kindly posted an image of. Specifically it was in the Harrison's chain of arcades on Bognor Regis seafront next to Jones Garage. Ted Harrison also owned Clacton Pier and he had about eight of these Crompton Cakewalk pushers in the arcad...
