Re: Oliver Whales wood?

I reckon oak too. I've seen it in various guises over the years pre and post stain. I had some cases made ages ago and no longer own the machines. The cabinet maker said that they were old varieties of oak. Having said that, it might not be. 😉

Re: Electric Hopper Payout (for Aristocrat Quadreel)

How fabulous to see that it still works. I can't comment on the speed of the hopper, however having grown up playing Ballys and the like in the mid-'70s, I would often find the payouts to start slow and pick-up. Why? I've no idea! I thought it was for dramatic effect but probably not. It was so comm...

Re: eBay specials

Of all the machines to keep that is an unusual one. Mind you, did he sell it or was it withdrawn by eBay?

Re: eBay specials

I didn't see the War Eagle Console. An interesting find. I haven't seen one either. This was in Essex/Colchester?

Re: Sad news

I have just seen this post. How dreadfully sad. I met Gerry on a few occasions. Another legend leaves us. Sincere condolences Peter and to those who knew him. His legacy lives on.

Re: Ruffler & Walker Allwin List

I couldn't help noticing that the cases of the vending allwins seems to vary between 2 styles. Some have extended tops and others are flush. Anyone know or have any ideas whether there were two different options offered?

Re: Am I missing something here?

It will be interesting to see what happens to prices once the recession properly kicks-in. It's a great time to sell at the moment but methinks that it won't last for much longer. Thoughts for a penny?

Re: Auction today

Wow congratulations on spotting that one. I’ve heard that there have been a few discovered barns of machines in Norfolk but who owns them, and where they originated, remains a mystery. A great find Tom and we know they are safe in your hands.

£250 actually Tom. A higher offer was accepted. Did anyone on here buy it? 🤔

Re: Streets Wheel Em In identified

I have seen some older Streets Wheel Em In machines with a vertical rubber conveyor belt right at the back, about 8 inches wide, with rows of short brass spikes in zig zags across the belt (several inches apart) ... 18 months late to the party but whilst I don’t have any photos, I remember exactly ...
