Re: Toffee and the Klaxon motor gearbox
Treefog ... I think you're on the right track with the wick/oil feeder scenario. The weak point in oil alone is not only the gaskets and seals, but also the shafts protruding from the sides as the bearings they sit in may leak. If it were mine I'd introduce a good dollop of quality grease, that you ...

Re: Fremont Hotel Mills High Top
Looking at the pay out disc for reel one, can anybody else see additional deep grooves as per Gold Award pay outs? I believe I can. If so, has anyone seen a Hi-top with Gold Award? I haven't. So, with melons where there shouldn't be, a confusion of denominator and my cloudy/watery eyes convinced it ...

Re: Fremont Hotel Mills High Top
The references on the machine to the Fremont Hotel are nice, yet sadly don't prove any antecedents. The trim would fit any Hi-top. I see it's currently playing on 1np and shows a 6d denominator. The closest size American coin to a 6d would be a 5c. Not the value of play you'd expect a Las Vegas casi...

Repro doors are common, but as aristomatic said bonnets may look similar, but can be miles adrift ... as well as costly.

Re: Sega Mark 10
Is that vertical lever which locks or unlocks the mech depending on whether a coin has been deposited, slack and loose or held in place? It's possible it should be attached there.
I'd guess it was 6d. It was certainly pre decimal originally.

Well old fruit to back up your valuation of nine hundred sovs, the very least I'd expect you to do is chuck a penny in it and find out.

Re: Mills Novelty $.25 Machine Not Paying Correct. Rando BONUS Letters
PS .. You do realise (don't you?) that in the photos you've supplied that your mechanism isn't at rest. It has completed the reset but hasn't fired the play sequence yet.
Is it jammed or did you deliberately photograph it at that point?

Re: Mills Novelty $.25 Machine Not Paying Correct. Rando BONUS Letters
Hi and welcome to the site. It looks as if you are in America? I have both The Horse Head and the Hi-top Bonus. Let ask first, are you familiar with the workings of a non Bonus slot machine? I ask because if you're having to learn how a standard slot works as well as the Bonus variant on top, certai...

Re: You be the Judge
Apart from the excessive commissions currently being charged through live auctions, a couple of other ploys I've noticed. Here in Lincoln one of our auction houses has started a listing fee per lot. What they don't tell you when you submit your items is that they no longer accept a collection as one...

Re: You be the Judge
It pays to always observe/protect lots that you've won at a live auction. There are some really nasty individuals about. On the other hand at the Coventry Auction we regularly finished up at the end having had our heads stuck in the paperwork, only to look up at the bitter end and see a room devoid ...

Right, I've been down the storage where the two machines are. I'm usually quite a positive and enthusiastic person, and was quite astonished at just how ambitious I must now be. Here is what I was presented with ... Where-in-garagea.jpg Now, I know exactly where they are. One is beneath the blue tar...

How do you work out what's wrong ...?
Having tried everything that worked once before, I go to bed.
More often than not, when I wake in the morning I'm exhausted, have a headache and the answer.
What works for you?

Re: Rotamints
First check the rotary comb that trips the leaf springs during the final run down. There might be wear on the teeth.
Also clean the contacts on the leaf springs.
Do so with the power off. There are screw driver melting sparks running around in there.
