Re: Wonders Ringla restoration help Victoria Australia

Hi Ringla, Bob has been retired from restoring machines for a while now. There are so few machines in Aust that there is hardly anybody left who can/will/want to work on them! Only person I can suggest is user ddstoys, maybe he can help you out? Good luck.

Re: The old Exploding Key trick!!

Hey Prunehat, thanks for the info. Strangely nothing at all I could find on the internet (until now) so a fairly lost "art". But in this instance do you think that would be what's going on here since this key is so tiny?

Re: The old Exploding Key trick!!

Ah yes, the booby trapped key, how could I have so easily fallen for that old chestnut!?! I've often thought that coin-op restoration & collecting has a lot to do with the likes of Indiana Jones............ !!UHOH!! :!: Closest I can think of is the fraternal organisation prank devices that ...

The old Exploding Key trick!!

Well I'll be damned, just had an antique key explode in front of me!! Luckily I wasn't hit by the small piece of steel shrapnel that came off it. I was re-keying an antique lock and this seemed like the closest fit and style for the job, but the key barrel would not fit fully onto the locating pin i...

Re: Aristocrat mystery circuit board burnt resistors

Sorry can't help with circuit info. In fact even here in Australia Aristo schematics are basically unheard of. I've been told the company destroyed everything they could after a fairly short time. I guess that was partly due to legal issues with gambling machines being illegal in most of Aust back t...

Re: Novelty Merchantman Crane

The adverts all show the machine with the marquee. But I only ever add them back to machines when I find the screw holes or bracket marks that prove the machine did have it once installed. Though with these big US companies like Exhibit I image they all came as shown on the flyers. While I've seen m...

Re: Novelty Merchantman Crane

Another long term project just finished and also soon to leave my employ....This was my first crane and was very happy to buy it locally from an old operator buddy of my father's, even though it was a true basket case. Purchased in 2003 and was half restored by 2004, but then soon after I had to aba...

Re: Bolland Auto Stereoscope

OK, so after 15 years I've only just got the machine to where I'm finally happy with the restoration..............and it's sold. Oh well. Took a lot of attempts and layering different stains etc to eventually match the newer base wood with the old cabinet veneer. Made a lot harder than normal as I w...

Re: Bryans Clock

I think your original face art is pretty damn good, has unique character for sure which is a huge plus! Sadly I imagine it will end up irreversible once a new face is glued over it.
