Re: "Juicy Fruits" wall machine

Yes, it was quite useful - should be handy if I have a go at making one.

Re: "Juicy Fruits" wall machine

Thank you - I would love to make a replica Brenco "Match-A-Fruit", but it would take a lot of planning, and many months experimenting for sure!

I may be able to find some fragments of the matrix design - the scraps of paper are around somewhere....

"Juicy Fruits" wall machine

I recently made a "Bar 1" style "flasher" fruit machine, the idea being to recreate a 60's style unit that does not use electronic components (except silicon diodes and electrolytic capacitors). The object is to match 3 symbols, the payouts being cherries 40p, plums 40p, oranges ...

Re: Does anyone have pics of the Brenco Mystery Arrow?

It seems to be quite an elusive machine, doesn't it... but thanks for the info, that in itself is interesting.

Does anyone have pics of the Brenco Mystery Arrow?

I remember this fascinating machine which gave me many hours of fun for my little bag of pennies at an arcade in Great Yarmouth in the 1960's. It featured a large chromed arrow, which repeatedly moved over the colourful prize sections in a random fashion, and the player had to bet on which amount th...

Re: Who can remember this fruit machine with mini pinball feature?

Interesting stuff pennymachines - I just wish I had the kind of cash that could buy as many machines as the American collector has!

Re: Who can remember this fruit machine with mini pinball feature?

Thanks for the information moonriver, now I know that I didn't dream that the machine existed - it's strange how very selective the memory becomes; quirky features, such as the bagatelle, stand out like sore thumbs!

Who can remember this fruit machine with mini pinball feature?

Today a machine came to mind from around the late '70s/early '80s, seen in one of the Gt. Yarmouth seafront arcades - it was a fairly standard electromechanical, floor-standing fruit machine, but with the unusual feature of a small "bagatelle" incorporated into the top glass. With the feat...

Re: Gigantic Motor Racing Multiplayer

I think it was the Formula One Racing game; the track was not Scalextric style, but relied on a motor and chain (or cable?) system under the track.

Ah yes, that's the one I remember. Maybe one day someone will be able to find a photo of one - the forum members never cease to amaze with their resourcefulness!

Many thanks for the information.

Single player "penny in the circle" machine

This is quite an obscure machine that I only saw in one arcade at Great Yarmouth - it consisted of a white(?) playfield which had winning penny amounts in circles printed on it (it was probably made of glass), and the object was to get your penny to land entirely within the circle to win the named p...

Re: Gigantic Motor Racing Multiplayer

I think you may have misremembered the 15 car bit - that would require a very wide track! Looking at the video featuring "Formula 1 Racing", maybe you are right about there only being 5 cars - the display on the topbox is as I remember it, so perhaps it just seemed that much bigger to a 1...

Re: Gigantic Motor Racing Multiplayer

I definitely remember "Le Mans" and "Grand Prix" games, and I am 100% sure about the monster we are talking about here.... I played on it many times, and its sheer size and number of cars racing at once were the big attraction (it was about three times the size of "Le Mans&q...

Re: Gigantic Motor Racing Multiplayer

The one I recall was fully enclosed under glass, and instead of steering wheels there were penny-playing stations, much like other larger gambling multiplayers.

That said, the game in the photos looks fantastic - I would have loved to have had a go on that!

Gigantic Motor Racing Multiplayer

Way back in the mid to late sixties, I can recall playing on a huge motor racing game, located in the Oasis Amusements in Great Yarmouth. It was the first thing you saw when entering the room (well, it was hard to miss!). It was similar to the "Grand Prix" game, but much, much bigger. It m...
