Re: Help make my reel spin faster
Thanks, When I say lost interest; what I meant was the workshop I was using I lost access to and I ended up with too many patch's of oil on the carpet in my flat at the time. Fast forward a few years and I've moved house so have the space and tools :) Thanks for the tip - in Chrome the button doesn'...

Help make my reel spin faster
Hi all, My first post in quite a few years having fallen out of the hobby. I have jus picked up this lovely Hi-Top with what I think is the original crinkle paint. It works great however the reels spin quite slow and stop before the clock does. Would appreciate some advice on how I can get this runn...

Re: Help with my latest project
Thanks Paul,
Not my best job to date but it was a real state to start with so I guess I shouldn't expect miracles!
I was pleasnantly suprised how easy it was to replace the missing reel strips - actually just needed to manually line up a couple of known combinations and then it was easy!

And here is the finished article..!
On reflection I think I may have somehow managed to miss polishing the front plates looking at the picture and the bumper I obviously did polish!

Re: Caille Centre pull victory Bell in Aberdeen??
I would be careful with things like this; I've had a couple of people try and scam me as responses to wanted ads I've placed on Gumtree. One person was trying to sell me two machines of theirs and one of their neighbours. Pictures sent were a bit dodgy and really small rs, no exif data in the pictur...

Re: Elephant House Auctions
Wow 7.30 thats a very very long day especially with a drive home somewhere after as well. It wasnt a wasted trip for me as I had arranged to collect a machine from someone who was going to the auction and sold a couple of bits as well. I totally agree some very deceptive photo's - just highlights th...

Re: Elephant House Auctions
There is always a lot in the Ele cat that makes me smile, this time its "large quantity of nail polish" dose it come in a 10 gallon drum do you think? any way ,one for BP I think  I saw that there today - a couple of large cardboard boxes full of little jars. Not too sure how that wo...

Re: Cowboy Polk type machine
I was wondering how much that would go for. I was thinking perhaps around the 1500 mark so I was way off. Not my cup of tea at all and I suspect they aren't as nice to use with that style handle. More of a novelty display item. The bandit itself doesn't look particularly nice either not sure why but...

Re: Help with my latest project
Well, So far I've stripped the cabinet down, cleaned and re-glued it all and repainted the base and reassembled it all. I got as far as taking the reel bundle off the mech earlier and decided that its a job for when I've got a good couple of hours to do a full strip down and rebuild as its completel...

Re: Elephant House Auctions
Anyone going tomorrow? I've never been before, always placed an absent bid however there are a few things I'm interested in and am collecting a machine from someone who is also going so thought I would check the place out.
Be great to put some faces to names if anyone is going!

Re: Help with my latest project
The picture has just loaded up on my phone now. Another of our forum members has one of these machines also with the globe on the front and his is identical to the one pictured with the different front trim at the bottom. I have to say I'm really not a fan of the trim like that it's not as nice as t...

Re: Help with my latest project
Thanks, It does have the sticker on the inside of the cabinet on the metal side plates that line it and I think I saw a sticker on the mech as well but I will double check and post some pictures tomorrow. I had one once before with those stickers and the same cabinet with the Formica stuck over the ...

Re: Help with my latest project
Well, I collected the machine today. As a plus the cabinet whilst is now in many parts on the bench going to be fine after a clean and some TLC. the casts however are all copied but will still spray up nice enough. Machine needs a huge amount of work but has the potential to be nice once complete. J...

Re: Cleaning coins, nuts, bolts & other small metal items
I have a bead/shot blaster at home with a tank and I can tell you it's a horrible, slow, noisy job. I've used it to strip the old paint off some small bits of trim etc in the past and a whole trade stimulator. Took forever and even with the tank and a mask etc you still get covered in the stuff. I'm...

Re: Mills Golden Nugget clone or not a clone ?
Well, luckily I managed to get to the post office 5 mins before they closed so should be with you by the end of the week! You have my email address, so if there are any other bits you need then let me know - much rather not line ebay's pockets any more than I already have and keeps the cost down as ...
