Re: B Firman & Co. products

As for the castings, I wouldn't like to say, but as to your other concerns, 20 stop symbols on a 10-stop machine is of course very common. Some machines alternated which set was used; others simply had 10 extra losers. I don't know if the Poinsettia used 20 symbols on 10 stop but it's unlikely it ...

Re: Ebay fees scrapped !!!

I understand what you're saying Jerry, but to be honest this is an auction, and auctions often have rules to protect both sides. If you bought online at a normal auction you would be obliged to pay upfront to protect the seller as you would be stopping the sale to the underbidder if you later ...

Re: Coin-operated penny presses

when we were kids we used to put old pennies on railway lines and let the super heavy steam trains run over them, they ended up very thin and over 3 inches wide, when the electrics came it it became a dangerous hobby.

Re: Ebay fees scrapped !!!

Yes, the "My Ebay" section has now changed as far as auctions are concerned with the "view order details" now removed. One thing though, why does it make a difference if you pay on collection or pay in advance? This is after all an auction. !PUZZLED!

Jennings Good Luck consol

Now here is a thing, a 1939 O.D.Jennings "Good Luck" consol. These came out in several cases (not sure I like the marbled wood case) and seem to be an early attempt at an electro-mechanical bandit. Interesting idea. Note the hidden payout tray, but what caught my eye were the photos of the insides ...

Re: Ebay fees scrapped !!!

More changes might be in the pipeline, but as it stands you can get around the problem. Once an item is sold the buyer's phone number is available on the "order details" (at least this is the case with "buy it now" I don't use auction very often so can't say for sure). Incidentally, having just got ...

Re: Oliver Whales Win a Navy

Here are two adverts for Navy sweets. The first one shows just how big these companies were, offering a competition in 1955 with the first prize of a Ford Consul and 4th prize a TV (rare in 55, believe me). The car is listed as valued £700 (so the basic model). A great deal of money in 1955. The ...

They should be fine. You can use any springs of the same type and approx. strength.
