Re: Unusual Jennings machine

your right of course, I really think I'm getting too old, I actually put "constellation" instead of "Continental" on the photo on my web site as well as here, im going to have to take things slower, I've just come back from a vacation and before i went I decided to hide my house ...

Jennings Continental Star Chief identified

The "Bonanza Casino" in Reno contacted my site asking if I could ID this Jennings machine they have on display in a glass case on their slot machine floor. I was pleased to be able to help. It is a Jennings you rarely see, a "Constellation" made I believe exclusively for casinos....

Re: We're pampering to the minority ...

as to the view of these protesters,it always seems to me they are more interested in being protesters than they are in being involved in a particular cause, this is often underlined by their lack of thinking the subject through. If you banned the riding of horses the horse would have no reason to ex...

Re: We're pampering to the minority ...

It is true all publicity is considered good for a cause, but in my view that is not always the case, it can also damage a cause as in this case. These people are instantly labelled as "cranks" and "stupid" by the vast majority, and many people on the fringe of this cause thinking...

Re: The Forum's yearly check up

oh well, not much point continuing with this thread then, clearly, No changes coming because everything is already perfect I definitely did NOT say questions like the ball size shouldn't be there,of course, they should, what I did say was there is not enough of that kind of question to keep the site...

Re: Harpoon or Shaft ???

Thanks Mr. P....I'd rather deal with you than Gameswat,,,,Roger wouldn't we all  for me, the whale bidder is the arrogant flashy bidder who ,in truth, just wants to be seen and heard to advertise his wealth. The most obnoxious example I've ever witnessed was on a cruise some years ago, the shi...

Re: Buckley kicker question

Is that not an earlier attempt to repair the worn kicker? If it is, then the changes you made to the kicker would not help. It could be that the added kicker extension is made of a softer metal and has bent slightly over the years (it looks it). If so, bend it back and test again.

Re: The Forum's yearly check up

However the sheer knowledge of some members can be intimidating. I'm sure it makes some members wary of posting and risking their wroth (and sarcasm) true  The real key to any forum, on any subject, is post volume. there needs to be a continuous stream of posts so people think to take a daily/...

Re: Can anyone ID this machine?

I managed to get a couple more photos (not very impressive). The owner thinks possibly made by Peter Barson (a new name to me).
I've circled three areas new to me.

Re: The Forum's yearly check up

I did a yearly "state of the forum" for some years but stopped when activity on the forum took a nose dive (not that it got bad, but quite a drop). I might take a look at the stats and see how it's going now, clearly still strong, but replies are slower to come than they used to be, I have ...

I couldn't say, I've never seen it close up. The maroon section appears to be attached to a metal area of the same shape.

Pete Barson wall machine identified

I'm doing some work for the owner of this machine. I've never seen one before. Anyone have any info? I really need to know if the central wording is at it should be.

Re: Trouble with Aristocrat reels not releasing

The dog will not change this, other than ensure that the arm that retracts the fingers lifts on top of the lever highlighted in green Tom, I was under the impression that's exactly what he's saying does not happen? It appears the round thing on top of the rear V section (see photo) is not raising h...

Re: Trouble with Aristocrat reels not releasing

As BP says, it's going to be the dog and anvil. From what we can see, the dog is very worn (much more than usual). If you can't adjust it into the right place (which is never easy), you might need to replace it or reshape it as a last resort. As to the brackets on the main operating bar, most machin...

Spreading the word

I had a pleasing and unusual request sent to my www.penny-arcade.info website today. It was from the head librarian of the Niagara Falls Library, Canada. She had a request from a member of the library for information on a specific slot machine, described as "a grasping mechanical hand trying to...

Re: Nice row of cast iron machines

I agree with Tom, how did those machines stand the weather on a pier? wind, rain, cold and salt corrosion! I think the bucket was to accommodate spitting out your chewing tobacco prior to the photo. At least, that's what they're used for here in Tennessee. Luxury, when I was a lad we dreamed of havi...

Re: Bryans Hidden Treasure

I was thinking the same about the numbers being out of sequence. All that was needed was one more "X" on the 145 machine and it would all fit nice and cosy.

Re: Bryans Hidden Treasure

As to the Roman numerals, what's needed is a third machine displaying the numbers, to get a good guide. Gameswat's original idea of the 1978 update makes perfect sense on the first machine as it reads 78 in Roman numerals. Could the second machine simply be a case of the guy not knowing the "L&...
