Re: Sega Continental Grand Prix
I once bought two off a guy who didn't know you could take the mech out and had carried them up two flights of stone stairs in a block of flats !! Even dismantled I took my life in my hands getting back down those stairs.

Re: Handle hard to pull
the first thing to know is, is it the handle or the mech that is stiffer? with the mech out of the case is the mech harder to cycle than it was before? and at the same time, is the handle real smooth without the mech in place? Then, of course, with new springs etc the mech should be stiffer (as it w...

Re: Contraband Spain movie, 1955: arcade games identified
A question, just out of interest, on the cast iron machines in all the photos I've seen the gun was on the right (which made sense as most people are right-handed and with the machine sited flat against a wall the gun would be easier to use, yet I see the one of the two in the photo has the gun on t...

Contraband Spain movie, 1955: arcade games identified
A man in Spain has asked me what the machines in this still from the 1955 movie "Contraband Spain" are. The two cast iron shooters I've seen before but don't know the facts. I believe the machine on the right is a Bryans "Satellite" (?) The one in the distance is, of course, hard...

Some interesting prices there. Unusual to see three cranes in the same auction, although it must have needed work or had a bad problem. One was very cheap.

I think Tom is right. There seems to be nothing broken, just a little wear in the middle. Not a problem.

Re: Hellomat Quarta (CAM conversion) identified
not sure if it has a 15 sec play? What exactly does it do? Other than bore you to death, nothing, There was a law in Germany that said the player had to have value for money so the game had to last at least 15 sec, which doesn’t sound long but it's never-ending when you play. Watch the video above ...

You are all going to hate this!
I'm no fan of customised slots, but sometimes people ask me to design a set for a dying machine. I don't like them but they are fun to design.
Sorry about the quality of the photo.

Re: Need a Guru
I happen to know the prize dispenser on this particular machine is only 40mm deep (front to back), so I'm thinking it was a Spangles or similar. Do others agree?

Re: Now here is a 1d coin slot you couldn't miss
The history of the company says the factory, which was in Norwich and was VERY large (rebuilt no doubt after the war), was closed in 1999 to much outcry, so Nestle did what Hitler couldn't. Incidentally, their biggest product was Ginger Beer! a product they laid claim to having perfected as a retail...

Caley's 'Marching Chocolate' rail carriage vendors
Not quite sure what these two are up to but you could find that coin slot even when drunk! (and what's "Marching Chocolate? !PUZZLED! ) (ah now I see it was chocolate sent by the factory to troops in the First World War). It says it's a "1930s choc machine" and I believe the Caley's n...

Re: This week's quiz
Someone on my site asked if I could help. I told them I didn't know but would ask around. The nearest I can find is a Rock-ola "Hold and Draw" but this looks too weakly made for Rock-ola and no sign there was ever a gumball dispenser, and certainly not the heavy Duval or Jennings build. St...

John Taylors slot machine auction: 12/03/24
An auction house contacted my site and asked if would like to circulate details of their current auction which includes around 30 slot machines ranging from spares only machines to some very rare machines including a crane, several fortune tellers, some early allwins and a couple of the more unusual...

Re: Advice on Puritan Bell reel strips
Thanks very much for the info. Are the top metal clips over the "9" all that hold the strips in place? I'll make the strips from sticky-backed vinyl so he can attach them directly to the old strips. They will be thin so should suit well.
Thanks again.
