Lombard Le Doublé, 1909
I thought forum members might be interested to see my latest project. Have just carried out a gentle restoration to this early French wall machine. According to the Lemaitre book it’s by Lombard from 1909. It’s got an interesting mech for an early machine with 7 ball play and all the ball runs cast ...

Re: Caille Ben Hur
So I’ve finally cleaned up the Ben Hur (or it might be a Caille Commercial - not sure on the difference) and it’s working pretty well. Just one issue I could do with some advice on. Quite often it stops with the pointer between two symbols (rather than dead on a symbol) and so doesn’t pay out, even ...

Re: Caille Ben Hur
Hi, thanks for the suggestion. I’ve tried it and yes, it works pretty well on 2/. It accepts the coins fine and spins. Only issue is that it sometimes makes random payouts. But that might be more to do with needing to tinker with the payout mech than the coin size. Glad to have found a possible solu...

Caille Ben Hur
Hi, thought forum members might be interested to see my latest find. It’s a Caille roulette style machine, which I believe is generally known as the Ben Hur. I imported this from Spain and it’s currently operating on old 50 peseta coins. Frustratingly the coin entry is just a shade too small to acce...

Re: Allied/Victory/Conquerors Flags
Hi, I thought forum members might be interested that I've put my Conquerors Flag machine on ebay. I've owned it for more than 10 years but have seen this machine appear on forum posts previously (identified by the missing playfield pin), so the machine may be known to some of you. Would be great if ...

Re: Holy allwin Batman!
Finally the allwin is fully reassembled and working. Just to conclude the saga of the balls - I tried half-inch, 9/16ths and 14mm - all without success. Either too small to stack high enough in the reserve, or too large to get through all the guides. Eventually 17/32 proved to be the perfect fit. Ca...

Re: Holy allwin Batman!
A few pics as requested following a clean and de-gunk. Machine has double entry slots for coin and token, has working 5 tube payout (but unfortunately no tokens) and functioning reserve. No cashbox or reject button, but other than the odd replacement screw appears complete and original. I’ve still g...

Re: Holy allwin Batman!
Many thanks for the quick replies and information. Mystery of the hole solved! I do have another question for the experts. What size of balls should my allwin reserve have? I’ve tried it with half-inch balls and they are too small to stack high enough in the reserve tube for the machine to operate c...

Holy allwin Batman!
Hi folks, I’ve recently acquired a Saxony allwin reserve in totally original (but absolutely filthy) condition. Am just sending the cabinet to my furniture restorer for a bit of repair and polish when I noticed a hole in the side of the cabinet. It appears original and even has a brass ferrule insid...

Re: Edgerton Double Loop identified
So I received my Delrin balls in the post. They’re actually a bit heavier than I expected and so was full of optimism that they’d be the ideal solution. They do have excellent “pingability” and shot around the loops. But...the 5/8 inch balls are a shade too large and they got stuck in the mech. Stil...

Re: Edgerton Double Loop identified
Thanks for the reply. Have decided to try balls made from Delrin which appears to be the material used for casino grade roulette balls. Fingers crossed they work, will let you know how I get on in case others are looking for an alternative to steel balls for older machines

Re: Edgerton Double Loop identified
Hi, I’ve just acquired an Edgerton Double Loop that came with 4 steel balls. Was interested to read this old thread saying it should have composite balls. Does anyone know where to acquire an equivalent to composite balls? I’ve searched a few bearing suppliers and 5/8" bearings are available in...

Re: BUY IT NOW
Ah yes, but it's not just the buyers with their "I'm in the area" lies, the one that makes me laugh most is the seller who "knows nothing about these. so don't know if it's working OK", then posts a photo with four other machines in the background. There are three of these on eb...

Re: Which clown?
I think this Clown is more likely from a British factory such as the Phoenix Works (Coin Automatic Co. of Birmingham). I think the custom-made spandrels (of a design I've never seen before) in place of the thin brass fancy spandrels found on most German Clowns and wall machines, is a definite point...

Re: Which clown?
Thanks for the reply. I hadn't thought about the cabinet - but you are right, it is a much finer grain than my English machines of the same age. There are no PMWG stamps on the machine and I cant find any obvious serial numbers (where should I be looking?) One other question - the brass piston at th...

Which clown?
Topic moved & merged - Site Admin. I have just picked up this clown catcher today and after a couple of hours fiddling about the machine is now fully working. As you'll see from the photos it looks totally original - it has retained it's top pediment, is full of tokens and the payout slide is f...

Re: Mutoscope help please!
Thanks for the advice - but just to be clear, do I need to just earth the flex to the cabinet or do I also have to earth bond the cabinet/stand to ground, i.e. run an earth bond to say a radiator pipe?Coin-op wrote:You must earth the cabinet too!

Re: Mutoscope help please!
It sold for £800 plus commission and VAT - so probably about £1,000 all up.

Re: Mutoscope help please!
I did see the bandit but didn't pay too much attention to it. I think it was a Mills jackpot UK conversion on 1d play. It looked all original but I think the woodwork needed attention and overall would benefit from a good tidy-up. Other interesting lots were a fantastic original BMCo 24-cup and a Pu...
