Re: Rotamints
Just guessing. But since you're in the US, and that gray box isn't in any other Rotamint I've ever seen, is it possible that it's ALREADY GOT a 110-220V converter - the gray box? Try it on 110V.

At reset, the tips of the wipers should be in a vertical line on the very ends of the tracks.

Re: Aristocrat Payout Slides Sticking
Never oil or grease the slides! You can dust them with a little graphite powder if necessary, but oil will always stick them in the end.

Re: E/M Bally bandits
The big green resistor is 470 ohms, ten watts. The smaller resistor to its right is 8.2k, half watt. It goes to the bottom make contact, which is the yellow side of the 50V supply (the other side is orange). It feeds a small current continuously through the relay coil, not enough to pull it in, mayb...

Re: Operator dilemma: old Pennies or Tokens?
Very true. When I worked at a slot machine company here in the US we had nickel (5 cent) tokens made of brass. They cost seventeen cents each . The advantage was we still had the same number at the end of the week. I had to put tokens in my own bandits at home, once my kids discovered where I kept t...

Re: E/M Bally bandits
Just some general comments - All these machines are 50V AC. The very first Bally EM model was 110V but only a few were ever made before complaints from customers forced a change to 50V. The lamps are almost always 6.3V although some showman mods may have used 50V lamps in the change boxes (unlikely)...

Re: Did Aristocrat sell mark v games in North America?
Well I'm not sure Truckee qualified as their headquarters, but I know they set up there because it was the closest they could legally get to Reno. When they got their license sorted out they closed Truckee and moved to Reno, across the street from IGT. Truckee was very small and crowded - they were ...

Re: Did Aristocrat sell mark v games in North America?
The Mark 5 is a video slot. You don't often see them for sale in the US because mostly they're less than 25 years old, which is too recent for most states. Aristocrat had a troubled history in the USA. The first Aristocrat machines over here were, I believe, imported by IGT, who had settled a lawsui...

Re: Operator dilemma: old Pennies or Tokens?
I'm late to this discussion, but an old penny (31mm) is close in size to a US half dollar (30.61mm) and a common Japanese Pachislo token (30mm). You can buy the tokens on Ebay for around $120 (US) a thousand. It's what I use in a couple of old penny German wall machines I picked up at auction over h...

What kinds? Not a lot of people bother with them because they're hard to sell. On American Ebay they generally don't fetch more than $50.

Re: Bally Gold Cup Deluxe circa 1965
I regret I can't help you with a circuit diagram. I've got diagrams for similar Keeney and Games machines but they are much simpler - they don't rely on Bingo technology. It seems to me it wouldn't be too difficult to trace the wiring. If the Tilt light doesn't light and NEITHER do the display light...

Re: Bally Gold Cup Deluxe circa 1965
The "common switch to turn on the lights" that you seek is a contact on the Anti Cheat relay, which should be energized at all times unless its return circuit is broken by the slam switch. The other function of the Anti Cheat relay is to connect power to the Win Relay. If the A-C relay won...

Re: Bally Gold Cup Deluxe circa 1965
They are always on in normal use, but I THINK they may turn off in Tilt - similar Games and Keeney machines do. The machines turn on in the Tilt state, and come out of it on the first play. It will be one of the relays on the back door, which will latch on if you close it manually. If you're really ...

You find a "government surplus store" where you'll find abundant quantities of "Post Office Uniselectors" and "Post Office Relays Type 3000". Or at least, I did when I was a kid, since there was a project calling for those items every couple of months in Practical Wirel...

Re: Bally Gold Cup Deluxe circa 1965
The "modern" electronic reels seemed sharp and smooth, seeming to tumble along There was a clever pattern to it. Each display had two sets of symbols - a real set and a teaser set. The teaser set had more jackpot symbols on it to give the illusion of liberality, but it would never stop on...

The full name of the FOK is the Front OK Vendor. It used to have a mints vendor in the front. That's been replaced on this variant with a custom non-vendor front.

Re: Bally Gold Cup Deluxe circa 1965
In the (about) ten years since this thread was last active, I came across a Bally 'Mazooma Bell", which is a close relative of the Gold Cup, and thought it might be helpful to share some pics of the innards. These Bally machines are completely different from the more familiar Keeney and Games f...

Re: Bingolett..... help please!
Does your Bingolette not have a circuit diagram inside? Here, I'll post one for you in German I'm afraid. The six contacts at the end work the payout solenoid, as you should be able to follow from the diagram. The relay that self-sticks is the anti-cheat relay, aka the tilt relay. There's very littl...

Frank - delighted to meet you! I well remember your song. I remember dancing to it at "The Ship" disco in Dymchurch the night I had sex for the first time with the girl who became my wife. That was a good song to be remembered for (and a good thing for me to remember it by). But I never co...
