Re: Coventry Auction 25/11/18

I think the proof that we achieved our often stated objective of supporting the hobby instead of just running a business has been realised this year. How? Check eBay. BP I'd agree with that. Seemed to me that the machines sold went to a wide cross-section of people there, many of whom will keep the...

Re: Coventry Auction 25/11/18

the clown catchers?? :!?!: any guesses Have a feeling they were around the 700-800 mark but I'd hate to be wrong so best to wait for confirmation from someone else. Both were nice machines and with a catcher being a style missing from my collection (of two machines, lol) I was sorely tempted by one...

Re: Coventry Auction 25/11/18

I wrote a few notable ones down... and managed to leave the bit of paper behind... :dammit: From memory the Bryan's Rockets got up to 2600 or so, the Forks to 1825, Six-o-more 1150, Mutoscope was over 3k. And most notably a streamline Elevenses went for I think 1600! !OMFG! Think I might be waiting ...

Re: Coventry Auction 25/11/18

Well, tomorrow I will go to the bank to pay in exactly the same amount I withdrew on Friday. Couple of the things I was interested in went a little or a lot over my self-imposed limit, and although tempted by items such as the S&L Fireworks, I don't have the luxury of much space so have to be st...

Sounds like, with dark hair, I may be the odd one out. Although the rest of the description, being my first time too, matches pretty well!

Re: Elephant House Auctions

I decided not to go: partly as not much that interested me as I don't go for the reels and enamel signs of which there were many, and partly as I'd rather keep the old powder dry for next week just in case! I will be interested to see though how much the singing bird with chicks automaton (Bontems) ...

Re: Coventry Auction 25/11/18

Thanks for the latest update: there's still something messed up with the mobile version though, it shows page 4 and then a link to page 6 which is a page of machines that sold, with prices. And when on that page, there appear links to another 10 or so pages!
Works fine on laptop PC though.

Re: Happy Birthday Pennymachines.co.uk

I hope it manages another 16 years - a veritable treasure trove of information. I know forums seem to have fallen out of favour more recently with the increased use of Facebore and other related trendy sites but I hold out hope that sites like this see a resurgence of use and interest, as they still...

Re: Elephant House Auctions

Very confused! How does Steve get all these entries for his auctions, when he never answers his emails and his phone number on his website does not work. I have been emailing him for 4 weeks, hoping to enter a Bally Fireball pinball machine in his auction. Has somebody got some way of contacting hi...

Check where it's located ……. I've been and a had a look, and it isn't.
You mean 'INTHEROOM' would be a better location marker? :HaHa:

Re: Re-introduction and a Bryan's question

That looks good - a different design to mine in terms of the proportion of vertical open chute being shorter on mine with the 'top part' having an extended drop before the join to the vertical. Have not heard from anyone yet regarding my wanted advert (you'd think there'd be parts of Bryan's Allwins...

Re: This ain't no Bryan's...

I'd think "Bryan's" was mentioned because hundreds of collectors will have an ongoing search running for key words. That is a very good point I'd overlooked - I have words including allwin, penny and machine so it would still have appeared but not everyone will. Seeing the photo reminded ...

Just had confirmation that my request for cover at work that day has been accepted - so all being well I will be attending my first ever auction of this kind. Not going with any specific goal, just to see what it's all about, do a bit of socialising and possibly come back with something nice - might...

Re: Re-introduction and a Bryan's question

Brass was the material I used for the same part on a half-crown change machine. It has the advantage of taking solder readily, which avoids the bolt-heads which sometimes interfere with reliable working of coin-chutes. Thanks - an interesting thought - have never soldered anything before but there'...
