Re: Peter Simper machines
I am 74 now. I worked for Peter Simpers during the sixties in Milk Street, City of Bath. I was a service engineer along with John Cowley, Dave Powel, and several others. Ann Harrison was Mr Simper senior's secretary, younger Peter Simper, his son also worked for the firm. John Cowley was one of the ...

Re: Peter Simper machines
I just want to say what a fantastic website this is. Winding the clock back and seeing these machines and various names is absolutely fantastic. I have been absorbed by it.
Best wishes to everyone. Thank you so much for the trips down Memory Lane,

Re: Misplaced queries
Query received by email - Site Admin. How could I find more information on a lock I have, made by Colledge and Bridgen, Wolverhampton. Unusual because it is a penny operated public toilet door lock. The Black Country Lock Museum, West Midlands have said it is a very rare lock but there was no-one t...

Looking for a motor for my brenco ring machine
Posted in Arena: 21/07/2021 We wanted to speed the motor up as it was really slow, so took it to the local rewind factory before lockdown. Sadly they have misplaced the motor, and we had no pictures or markings to locate a new one. Please, if anyone can point me on the right track to finding one, I...

Our machine looks very much like the Roll a Road with the same style of cut-out for the back drop, but with Super Steer a Ball instead of Roll a Road. The graphics are quite simple and semi abstract, but with a traffic light roughly where the road sign is. The coin release mechanism is all mechanical.

Mystery Steer-a-Ball bit
I am working on a JP Steer a Ball at the moment and found this mystery part in the cash compartment.
It looks as though it could be part of a winning ball return mech.
Did they have them?
Have you a clue on where/how it might fit?

Crackle Finish
Thanks very much for the tips. The crackle finish is very good all round with the exception of the top and on the edge of the base. I will go for trying to touch in with the paints suggested.

Crackle paint à la Bryans
Topic moved and merged - Site Admin. Hi. I have just been fortunate enough to buy a Bryan's 'Twelvewin' in crackle finish. Machine functions well but in need of a stripdown and renovation. Can anyone advise me the best way to attempt restoration of crackle finish and if there are any books or artic...

Pronouncing the name Caille
Thanks for the illumination! It's one that's always mystified me.
I guess what I'd really like to know is how, as Americanised French immigrants, the Caille brothers and family pronounced it themselves.
Ben.
