Re: Isle of Wight Shanklin sale

Yes, the most expensive stretch of water anywhere! Although you can book a day return with car and up to two passengers I believe at a more reasonable price, although if you need to buy anything (which I doubt) at the right price as the usual suspects were talking about it yesterday at Elephant. If ...

Re: Isle of Wight Shanklin sale

Apparently a deceased estate of a chap from Freshwater in West Wight. I agree they look good but many have faults, already spoken to the auctioneers about three I was interested in, but with condition have changed my mind!

Re: Elephant House Auctions

The Jennings turned up during the morning, and I believe it went for around 1,250 to 1,300 but could be wrong.

Re: Coventry Auction - Sunday 27th November 2016

Yes, its a problem leaving bids, as I have learnt over the years at railwayana auctions ( as I collect enamel signs too) as Mr Wall often turns up especially at the Stafford one, the poor sods that I know have left high bids always seem to be 'lucky' enough to get it a their top bid! and yes if you ...

Re: Coventry Auction - Sunday 27th November 2016

It's always great to see a great debate but at the end of the day its choice, there are good machines in both including things that have been in before, that's if the items promised actually turn up on the day ( beyond control of the auction, I know) if your coming from the south coast for that spec...

Re: Coventry Auction - Sunday 27th November 2016

I know what you mean, nice to sell and get your cash, but if you wait until the auctions over, like Coventry you will get your money, both places it means hanging about but at least at EH you can 'pay, collect and go' before the auction ends if you are only buying.

Re: Ice Hockey balls?

Thanks to the two replying members. Will have a measure up and follow your advice. I take that from the lack of replies that not many people have these machines or, really don't know themselves. Thanks again you two, appreciated.

Ice Hockey balls?

Topic merged - Site Admin. Hi, please could someone out there advise me how many balls a R & W ice hockey game should have, the size and what material they are made of, as the one I have has ball bearings which look too heavy for the game and do not release properly. Any help would be appreciat...

Re: Coventry Auction Sunday 22nd March 2015

Interesting stuff re Elephant House multi tasking is great! and always close to 100 lots an hour! Yes we agree this is an auction for profit as any business likes to do, there is room for both in this hobby and I'm glad to see a good selection of items at Coventry as it's only once or twice a year a...

Re: Coventry Auction Sunday 22nd March 2015

I have been interested in the never ending story ( like to queue to pay at the end ) and the usual comments and criticisms of out of date practices, I was especially intrigued by the story of having a break midway through, the best idea that unfortunately seems to have been dropped due to people pay...

Re: Coventry Auction Sunday 22nd March 2015

Thanks again for a good selection of machines in the auction. Unfortunately, the Boomerang was a no show - very disappointing after a 245 mile trip each way. At least even with the 'out of date' queuing system last used in the South about 40 years ago it was nice to get away in the light. Even thoug...

Re: Roundabout bandit by O.K Novelty company 1933

Many thanks for all who submitted information,I have since found others who have owned one in the past but then it or they could have been the same one or two doing the rounds, interesting to hear there could have been three differant mechs, it was a strange idea for a bandit but for !!>*<!! :HaHa: ...

Roundabout bandit by O.K Novelty company 1933

I am interested in finding out when the last one of these machines was in auction, I have been told around 6 appeared around 20 years ago, has there been any turn up since?
Also I have also been told not many were made - is this correct?
Thanks in advance!

fortune teller

Post merged - Site Admin. The fortune teller in the lower picture was bought at a boot fair three years ago near Rye in East Sussex. Apparently the buyer, a lady from Deal, asked the people who run the Vintage Arcade site (also in Deal) if it could be advertised on their 'other machines' section. T...

Re: 6 way R&W allwin floor stander

Yes, it was the same. A friend bought some bits and went along. The four sider was still there so I bought it. A bit of worm here and there but it only had a small problem with one side. It needed a good clean and oil so I will get around to doing this last one soon. What did you think of the backfl...

Re: 6 way R&W allwin floor stander

Good grief what a monster. I must admit it would go well with my R & W four sider but mine fills the room. Pretty good but, although some of the pictures are poor, the Polo backflash looks poor followed by the lumps and bumps in the Penguin. I think you would have to inspect it to see all the fa...

Re: Elephant House Auctions

I have read with interest the comments about the monthly auctions at EH. I have to agree with the comments about good items and their availability. I have attended both Coventry and EH - both have good machines but one wonders how long this will last and also when the prices will peak. This has happ...
