Re: Love test card

I have a set of 10 different cards similar to this card (which I bought). The texts on the back do not include the text on this card. The card is illustrated below and, as you see, states 'Sole Makers & Patentees A.W. Patents, Southport'. Do not have any idea what the machine looked like though.

Re: Coin op Items in Collectables Auction in Australia

Thank you to Bob for the improved photo and also to Gameswat for the excellent link to the Cox's site. The picture does pose a question, where do the used cups go? On the usual size machine there is a recessed tray behind the pediment. On the Ell's machine on the small size a galleried top to place ...

Re: Cast Postcard Vendor

Found this only on Wednesday morning and spoke to the auction house who were very helpful correctly describing the machine as cast iron pediment and iron case with enamel coin entry . Left what I expected to be a winning bid £1600 only to watch on line, it open at £320 and continue up to one bid ove...

Re: Watling Derby re-creation

The short video of the Watling Derby seemed to me not give too much information. Was it was a copy or restoration? The attached article either adds to this or is unrelated - in either case I feel it is worth sharing. It comes from the late Dick Bueschel's coin op classics which ran for only 13 issue...

Happy Christmas

Thought it would be nice to share this image on an Edwardian Christmas card I found recently on ebay. The enclosed rhyme conveys my wishes to you all so much better than I could.

Re: Sweetmeat & Nestlé's vendors

I think the main reason for not finding postcards showing 1930s vendors is that there were many more postcards generally before 1918 than after. I have about 200 showing machines - none after about 1918 and most pre-first world war.

Re: Sweetmeat & Nestlé's vendors

In answer to Alan's question as to picture of Nestle aluminium wall machine, I have never seen one. However with regards to the competition, I illustrate details of the prizes offered for a completed album of 156 cards. Given that exchanges required 6 to 1 with a maximum of 4 for 24 on each request ...

Re: Embarrassing question

Hat Trick safe awaiting its owner, may have gained a few cobwebs! Will be going to Coventry but have a couple of my own lots to take, so better if you could collect before. I see PM has given you my number so await your call.
