Re: Nice row of cast iron machines
This is another postcard of Ryde pierhead dated 1907 showing a different set of machines including a Mermaid Yacht Racer and another machine I cannot identify on the right. It appears to be a photo machine. I have seen a similar machine on a Clacton pier postcard. I have enlarged the machine section...

Re: Ahrens Great Golf Game
Post split moved & merged - Site Admin. I have just re-found this picture I was sent several years ago of this Ahrens golf machine in a private collection. It is a single player game and looks similar to the Chester Pollard machine which I played some years ago. Has anyone else seen or know of ...

Re: A really Sad Story
I first met Ken Rubin (Kenny) in 2005 when I joined COCA and went to the California convention with my son James. On arrival we were both approached and then introduced to Ken Rubin and Mel Gatland who were both surprised and pleased to see us come all the way from England. At the next convention in...

Re: Nicholson “Operating Theatre” & Canova “Problem”
I really hope the buyer of these models viewed them before he bid as the pictures gave a misleading idea of their condition. The Canova case seemed to have no way of opening and the Operating Theatre had been heavily and poorly restored. Despite this they sold for hammer prices of £4400 and £5000 pl...

Re: EH / Collector Connector sales
Re the prototype magic machines sold on Sunday, I can add some details of these not known by at least some members of this forum. They were bought by the vendor about fifteen years ago from Australia through a third party. What is generally not known is that they did not have crackle paint. They wer...

Re: Crazy auction weekend
I first saw this machine on a visit to New York with COCO (Coin Operated Collectors Association) on their annual convention in 2008. Mel Gatlin invited me to see his wonderful collection at his home. I had first met him in 2005 at a COCA meeting in California. I show a photo taken at this time. To s...

The Klein machine was sold on Sunday in the Elephant Auction. If you contact Steve Hunt, he may be able to put you in touch with the purchaser. There is probably a photo of the inside of the machine on his website available to a paid up member.

Re: Auction Fever
With regard to the Madam Zita fortune tellers the original Roover's machines from circa 1890 were reproduced in the early 2000s. About 20 were made and sold for under $10,000 each. Auction houses often do not state which they are selling. Still the price sold at Morphy's sale was exceptional. Others...

On looking closer at the pictures, I now think it is a Lee of Blackpool, made between 1920 and 1950.

Roger, so pleased I helped identify the Coochee Coochee for you. I add a photo I took on my first visit to his house in Greenwich Vi...

Re: Woe is me !!!!
I believe the machine you are thinking of is owned by Ken Rubens, author of Drop Coin Here . When my wife and I visited about seven years ago, I took him some old French 10c coins to operate it. They are slightly smaller than an English penny. He asked my wife which of all his collection she liked b...

The Clown you have looks to have a green cloth making it later, probably 1920s. The number on the side J... suggests it may be Jenson and made in Germany. Re: Spicers slot auction 25 Feb 22
I agree with treefrog the coin entry is wrong on the football game and the oak case is much newer than the mech. I believe the mech is all original from what can be seen from the pictures. I have seen six of these in wooden cases over the last 30 years and this is the least convincing original case....
