Re: Coventry Auction - Sunday 27th November 2016
I've had a good look through the posts on this thread - yes it is a shame both auctions are the same day, but at different times, people can visit both. Coventry appears, to me, to be the 'people's choice', whilst Ele' House is the 'collector's choice'. Either way you look at it, I must say one thin...

Re: New regular auctions of Mechanical Music incl. vintage slot machines
Nicely expanded, thank you!
We have the legs for both Star Trek and Bertha, but for photo purposes, found it easier to rest on floor so you get the playing field all in. The legs for Betha are not wood but metal, although of some age (lost early in life?).

Re: New regular auctions of Mechanical Music incl. vintage slot machines
The Saleroom is a very handy tool/site, but our only moan is the info shown which can make it confusing. The Saleroom take 3% as their payment to bid if using them to live-bid. Our buyers prem is 18% plus vat making 21% total. If you decide to bid via Saleroom, there is 3% extra so its 24%. If you g...

Re: New regular auctions of Mechanical Music incl. vintage slot machines
The auction catalogue is now live online, with the paperback out on Monday. Not a huge amount, but its a start - only had 10 weeks to get this sale together. Four slot machines, and good ones at that. Here is the link to take you to the online version of the sale through Saleroom.com https://www.the...

Hi I,
Well fancy me forgetting that as my user name - old age and madness creeping in I fear!

Re: New regular auctions of Mechanical Music incl. vintage slot machines
There is a focus with Coventry which makes it unique, plus you have a full year of consignment programme. I chose May and Nov for sales just because there was an even break between each and it misses the summer break and the penny-short Christmas run-up. I haven't got access to a collection as yet -...

Re: New regular auctions of Mechanical Music incl. vintage slot machines
Exactly why Coventry is and should be right out there in front - it is purely slots, it is run by slotties for slotties and for various reasons, overheads will be a great deal less. Don't forget folks that my main line is Mech Mus and Sci with slots as (pardon the pun) the sideshow. BP and JC do an ...

Re: New regular auctions of Mechanical Music incl. vintage slot machines
Many thanks Nigel, I remember you having a film peek in my office of the Mills reels - really wished you got them, but at least you had a chance to view a few frames. Commission is an easy argument-able subject I agree. But then when you look at what Christies are now charging (up to 25% for vendor ...

Re: New regular auctions of Mechanical Music incl. vintage slot machines
Hi Jingle, Although C & T Auctioneers are a small house, we handle only specialist subjects - (Arms & Armour, Toys, Trains, Dolls, Lead Soldiers and Mech Mus & Sci). It is a house run by specialists for specialists and the team have worked for at least 2 of the big 3. We all hate modern ...

Re: New regular auctions of Mechanical Music incl. vintage slot machines
Hiya Cheeky, Thanks for your kind words - I'll help where I can, but a sale is only as good as the pull of consignments. For the first time, I will have lots from £20 upwards with no ceiling, so a great selection of useful, bad, ugly, superb and hopefully amazing gear for it. As for getting the gear...

Re: New regular auctions of Mechanical Music incl. vintage slot machines
Ha ha! Thanks BP. Oxygen and H2O5OH still being consumed keenly. That's the great thing about auctions and when things go out from any house about a sale date; literally anything can come out of the woodwork. I find the better gear is owned by one-hit wonder private vendors who sometimes don't know ...

Re: New regular auctions of Mechanical Music incl. vintage slot machines
Hi Folks, Yep, my original post disappeared as the webmaster very kindly tried to tie-in my previous old posts with this one, but you know how wonderful modern computers are - it said a big NO! An accident deletion. So anyway, retyping this and back online. Just a quick message to say that I obvious...

New regular auctions of Mechanical Music incl. vintage slot machines
Hi Folks, It's been a while since I was directing auctions of Mech Mus and Scientific Instruments which included a section of slots etc. - so much so, I've decided to go back and do it again. It's not going to be a Nic Costa sale every month (although I did enjoy doing that one), rather a small sect...

New regular auctions of Mechanical Music incl. vintage slot machines
Just a quick message to say that I obviously took a break of over three years to do other things, but I was so hungry to direct sales of Mechanical Music and Scientific Instruments again since I left Bonhams. When at Christies, I had great fun and the Nic Costa sale I particularly enjoyed doing. So ...

Re: Cameo auction - 9th Sept.
I cannot agree with Arrgee enough. I sell machines within Bonhams cos we can, but its never a large selection - lets be honest. It depends what comes in and what we find out there. I have to go with the terms that came with the job, but the work that goes into the auctions by the two J's is huge. Yo...

Bonhams slot machine sales - September and November
Hello - Just to let you folks know what will be in the next two sales for the remainder of this year at Bonhams. As seen from the last auction in Knowle back in May, that is the saleroom that will have the most inclusions for vintage slots, with London being kept for the most-part rarer and more pri...
