Re: Penny arcade on TV

Mr Merrivale I totally agree... I am at an age (nearly 60) where I want to share our coin op history and heritage with the younger generation. My personal feeling is... it's pointless having a collection that no one can see, and it's great that the media are taking an interest. The great thing about...

Re: Penny arcade on TV

Looking forward to watching, Mr Merrivale. Two weeks ago I had a similar experience and hope that you enjoyed it as much as me. The BBC paid a visit to the Ditchburn Jukebox Museum to shoot a segment for the Antiques Roadtrip and discuss the History of the first British Jukebox. Never been so nervou...

Re: Academics on the rise and future of vintage arcades in contemporary seaside resorts

Wow Moonriver, That's a great insight and I feel your plight. The bookies had a lot to answer for. It annoyed me when the GC (quite rightly ) reverted FOBTs back to £2 play, and all the bookies could do was moan about loss of profits and that they may have to close shops and loss of jobs etc., but p...

Re: Academics on the rise and future of vintage arcades in contemporary seaside resorts

Hi Moonriver As much as I hate the fact that the bookies totally scammed the gullible with their £100 a spin slots ... I think the whole fruit machine industry was on the decline before that. The main reason was that machines were so manipulated by tricks and emptier's by people with the knowledge t...

Re: Duo Mat clockwork question

I removed the governor and all looked clean and well until I actually tried to move the two weights which were gummed up solid. A bit of alcohol and all is well again. Beware... I have used this trick before... one of my old jukeboxes sounded awful... but after 10 pints of Guinness it sounded fanta...

Re: Rotating escalator Aristocrat Tic Tac Toe

Now there's only two problems left to solve. 😀 1. Could not find an original rotating escalator so I had to buy a plastic replica which leaves a gap behind so the coin just drops right through. As the Parts are 3D printed ... that should be a simple fix, the PLA plastic melts at around 150 deg C, s...

Re: Hawtins Juke boxes

Yes, I'm totally unsure what happened to the Mk2s that ended up in Germany... The only reason I believe they may have come back is that I understand that they were never actually sold. They were sited on a rental basis, and Norman Ditchburn would not sell machines when removed from site, as they cou...
