Re: Roto-Pool, Roto-Fruit, Rotolite, Electrodart, Bingola, etc.
Very promising fix. This is the thing wrong with my Electro-Dart. Mine runs at 32v DC. Would you recommend putting an extra resistor in, or might this not work, would you predict?

Re: Spotlight Golf
Just seen this on today's Antiques Roadshow. Remarkable machine. Possibly the first computer based electronic game from 1936. The colour photos below from Bloxwich Golf Club, with the machine on its way to St. Andrews Golf Museum. 12188112_710341639100180_4634401010039493098_o.jpg 12034267_710341562...

Re: What were the very first electrical slot-machines that weren't shockers?
Not the funniest thing I've ever heard @coppinpr ... but I can imagine the wonder of people hearing a machine speak. I remember thinking talking pinball machines were incredible. *Another hard to answer question - where/when was the first amusement arcade? I wonder.... This is an amazing collection ...

Re: What were the very first electrical slot-machines that weren't shockers?
Thanks wembleylion and coppinpr. The penny-arcade.info site is an amazing resource of amusement machine creativity. It's always incredibly hard to pin down the first of anything, but that's compellingly much earlier than Love Tester machines as electric coin-operated "one-switch" entertain...

Love it. I wonder where that Automatic Chime Bells machine would have been operated. At a fun-fair? In a pub/bar?pennymachines wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 6:48 pm Ogden & Co's Automatic Chime Bells (1899) (PDF) looks like an early contender.

Re: What were the very first electrical slot-machines that weren't shockers?
Thanks arrgee. This site and the penny-arcade site are fantastic resources. I've become really interested in these old amusement games since discovering how close the POSM (Patient Operated Selector Mechanism) was to a Jamieson's Electrodart: https://oneswitch.org.uk/page/002 , which links to a lot ...

Re: What were the very first electrical slot-machines that weren't shockers?
Fascinating, bonkers machine. Fancy trying to win to get shocked. I'd never seen this before, thanks. That said, would you still need to pull back a spring loaded lever to flick the ball into play? If so, it's not quite what I'm thinking of. I wonder if it's a bit early to have a solenoid to kick th...

What were the very first electrical slot-machines that weren't shockers?
I'm interested in finding out what were the very first electrical one-button / one-switch electrical amusements. If it does something interesting/fun on the drop of a coin.... or after a coin, by pushing or pulling or squeezing a single button (no need to move levers)... I'd love to be able to pin i...

Re: Green Ray Television.
That makes a lot of sense. Such an imaginative machine. I suppose the push-button might be as simple as turning an extra light-on... but actually do nothing much in reality beyond add to the sense of mystery/old-flannel depending on how well you can suspend disbelief. Lovely machine on Twitter, seem...

Thanks JC. Regarding the push-button, you can see in the picture here: https://auctions.morphyauctions.com/LotDetail.aspx?inventoryid=483561 if you zoom in, "KEEP YOUR THUMB ON THE RETURN SWITCH". I was curious if it was wired up to anything. https://auctions.morphyauctions.com/ItemImages/...

Re: Green Ray Television.
The exhibition was held by a mechanical television enthusiasts group, so I compromised, and only took the actual 'television' part of the machine. It ran beautifully, and the rest is now making rapid progress. I'll try to load more pictures soon. Did you ever complete the Green Ray build? And to an...

Re: Roto-Pool, Roto-Fruit, Rotolite, Electrodart, Bingola, etc.
This is quite an old bump, but wondering if this from eBay might be a (bulky) solution for failed bi-metallic thermal switches on Jamieson machines, such as Electro Dart. Seems there's quite a few Jamieson's machines that could be brought back to full-life with a fix for the start-up and pay-out/bel...

Re: Roto-Pool, Roto-Fruit, Rotolite, Electrodart, Bingola, etc.
A pinball expert I met last week suggested the company Brownings Electrics in Barking as a place that might be able to wire-wind custom items. I'm hoping a possible place that might be able to help with the bi-metallic switches: http://www.browningselectric.co.uk/contact-us/ If I have any joy, I'll ...

Re: Roto-Pool, Roto-Fruit, Rotolite, Electrodart, Bingola, etc.
This is a bit of a long shot.... I have an ElectroDart, which seems fully working apart from the two delay heater coils. 1. Does anyone have any spare / replacement delay heater coils they would be willing to part with? 2. Is there anyone in the UK who might be willing to take a look at my machine? ...

Re: Roto-Pool, Roto-Fruit, Rotolite, Electrodart, Bingola, etc.
Thanks for your detailed help. I'm learning lots. Lots to follow through. Meanwhile, yes I did remove the orange wire that leads directly to the bell to help take the readings. I'm wondering if the thermal device is only for a short bell ring, would it not working stop the machine activating payout?...

Re: Roto-Pool, Roto-Fruit, Rotolite, Electrodart, Bingola, etc.
Had a little time to sit down with my Electrodart again. I've treated the woodworm, replaced the locks and renewed the capacitors and rectifier. I'm getting 36 volts DC across the large capacitor (70 volts AC). Can't say that this doesn't slightly confuse me. However, the game is running bright and ...

Re: Roto-Pool, Roto-Fruit, Rotolite, Electrodart, Bingola, etc.
Many thanks for your knowledgeable reply. I'll look into everything you mentioned. I didn't treat the woodworm, I (perhaps hopefully/naively) assumed it was old and long dead. I'll look into that too. :) I'm keen to have the thing working over it being completely original. I might look at using the ...
