Re: Rating for bandit lighting transformer

Hello Coppinpr, it is the Chinese front (not that I know what that means) machine from last Sunday which we talked about. Lights up very well but the transformer gets too hot too quickly.

Rating for bandit lighting transformer

I have just acquired a Jennings bandit and the transformer for the lighting is rated at 6v 2.5a. Unfortunately it gets very hot very quickly so something is wrong. Either it is just faulty or the rating is incorrect. Could someone please tell me if the above rating is correct in which case I will si...

Re: Coventry Spring Auction (24/03/19)

Would like to add my thanks to the organisers, an enjoyable day and the beer is good and much cheaper than round our way. Great to meet so many friendly people and to say hello to Paul who I thank for his valuable advice. I now have my first Bryans - the 3 ball 9 cup and I like my Parkers Wild West....

Re: Coventry Spring Auction (24/03/19)

The Sport shield catcher looks an attractive machine. Is there a particular reason why no maker is credited?

Re: What bandit to buy?

Many thanks for the replies. Coppinpr , I was pleasantly surprised that from your four examples my wife had two strong favourites, top right and bottom left. I have not worked out how to send private messages but when the lot numbers are finalized if I post a short-list on this thread I would be gra...

Re: What bandit to buy?

With the auction fast approaching I thought I would make a last plea for guidance on which of the available bandits to consider for my one and only purchase of this type of machine. Criteria: likely to be reliable, simple and not overly expensive and working on sixpence. Approximately ten runners in...

Re: What bandit to buy?

Thanks coppinpr.
I assume the German made options would contradict my price criteria.
I can now at least browse more selectively and try to resist temptation until Coventry.

Re: What bandit to buy?

Thank you BP for taking the time to reply. Given the dearth of any other suggestions I may try to hang on until March but I will be at the EH in February and may well just get carried away and buy anything with a handle!

What bandit to buy?

Suggestions please based on the following: More chance of being able to indulge my Allwin interest if I bought the wife a bandit/slot machine to play. A very basic no frills bells or whistles machine which generally tends to be reliable and possibly serviceable by a keen amateur if necessary. Hopefu...

Just acquired one of the blue backflash versions.
Does anyone have any images of the WIN and RESERVE labels as mine have disintegrated. Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: Elephant House Auctions

As said before the first I heard of the Coventry auction was at the EH last year when speaking to a regular. That was after looking for auctions on the web and before I joined here. Different people have different priorities and having to wait until the end at Coventry, if successful in buying, is a...

Re: Elephant House Auctions

Been to the EH once and the word "showroom" is not one I would use. Can`t see a problem with the ebay system, in fact for the novice it avoids the temptation of "auction fever". Instead you do what research you can, decide on a reasonable price and what you want to pay and set th...

Re: Lucky horseshoe hightop for sale

Sorry to but into a subject(penny machine values) about which I know next to nothing. Still annoyed I did not bid more for the Saxony machine on ebay last week. But from the world of property sales, the phrases "guide price", "offers based on..." etc might avoid confusion and pos...

Re: Seven mysteries of the Saxony allwin

The seller has responded that a winning shot produces 1 plus 3 balls and a token (no penny returned) also that there is an issue with the mechanism for a token to release a ball. This make of machine was not on my radar but I am getting twitchy to acquire my first original Allwin and November specia...

I wonder if another version has just appeared on ebay. The seller says that a winning shot returns the ball plus three others plus a token! Any thoughts?

Re: What can happen if you buy on ebay

Thanks again for the info, looks like the machine on ebay was originally a "Wizard" but now with a different mirror and a different cash door. Perhaps the "budget" versions didn't rate the corner finials either. If a little closer to home I would have been tempted but will follow...
