Re: Levitating Lady
Thanks for all your input. I can remember seeing the clip on Magpie a few weeks ago on the TV. I can remember seeing one about twenty years ago, the chap would not let me see inside as he said you will be copying them. I have made a rough prototype. I see the idea of how it works. Pete.

Levitating Lady
Hi All, has anybody got any pictures of the coin operated Levitating Lady that they could post? I have searched the internet & Utube. Seem to be a lot of manual ones and one made out of Lego. Many thanks, Pete.

Re: Working model with Stephenson's Rocket
Hi Jerry, sorry for the late reply. I have done a bit more work on the rocket. Made some rails and sleepers and the four bits of tube to hold the rocket up. Have been feeling a bit rough these last few weeks, been testing and all clear. Hope you are keeping well. Miss our arcade, Pete.

Re: Working model with Stephenson's Rocket
Hi All,
Just finished doing all the wood work on the model case. Needs a good rub down and stain. I decided to make some rails and sleepers so the Rocket looks like it's sat on the track. Just noticed that there are bits of red paint on the wheels. I often wonder why this rocket was never used.
Pete.

Re: Working model with Stephenson's Rocket
Hi All, the mock up was just some old scrap wood. The one that i will be making will be about 4 inches wider & 3 inches taller with an opening back door. Pete.

Re: Working model with Stephenson's Rocket
Hi all, getting on well with the cabinet. Needs a good sand and varnish later. Going to have it working on 12 volt battery with a timer. Can't make my mind up about the cabinet where the Rocket sits. Would like to try and put some scenery in the background. The wooden frame is just a mock up to see ...

Re: Working model with Stephenson's Rocket
Hi All,
Just started on the cabinet - bought a lovely old book cabinet from our local charity shop. Took me half a day to disassemble it. Some lovely old planks of oak. No pictures at this stage.
Pete.

Re: Working model with Stephenson's Rocket
I believe the Rocket dates back to 1930ish. The firm made about 30. They were used on railway platforms. I brought this about 14 years ago - never got 'round to building a cabinet. The Working model panel is cast in aluminium, wooden use ply. The Working model is Hell's Kitchen. I put the Rocket in ...

Hi Fruit Bowl, even more impressive. What made you use a chain? Did you ever consider making the penny drop the little weight down?

Re: Bryans Bumper
Hi fruitbowl, great job. I don't know how the public would get on with it these days. I understood that the original Bumper you had to thump down to play the game. As PM said, it was too easy to win on and we all heard that there was one on Colwyn Pier up for auction which did not turn up. I am sure...

Re: Bryans Bumper
Great idea, do you have to press the handle down or can you thump it? Is there a connection with the little weight that goes up the scale for the win? Would love to play on it - you will have to put a video of it working on this site. Pete.

Re: Auction in Wakefield tomorrow
Hi All, The last i heard of Poz, he had moved up to Great Yarmouth, I used to do a lot of shows for Poz when he got doubled booked. A lot of his shows were at private schools, they knew how to spend money there, wonder if he is still with us. Pete.

Re: Auction in Wakefield tomorrow
Hi BP & all, A little story to all our members. Some of you may know Poz, but if you don't, Poz used to go to various shows and parties and used to take a few allwins and bandits about for the kids to play on while he did his magic show. Then Poz brought an old coach which he turned into a play ...

Re: Auction in Wakefield tomorrow
Hi All, I can put my hands up to this machine. I made a run of these about 20 years ago. Great to play with. The one I copied it from had a lot of problems. For instance, when you flicked the penny across, it sometimes stuck between the glass and the thin metal. I made mine out of solid brass. Also ...
