Re: David G Smith Auction
It’s rural Australia, the place is huge, it’s not England, most roads are made of dirt and daft questions were shelved. David G Smith Auctions can be found by searching the internet, their history can be interpreted from there. What people are failing to understand is that the vendor was extremely ha ...

Re: David G Smith Auction
Impugning criticism to sour grapes makes me doubt your motives. Why defend failings which sabotage sellers and buyers alike, unless you have a personal or professional investment in the business? When a vendor places items in a public auction they do not expect to be bombarded after the auction with ...

Re: David G Smith Auction
As I have relatives within striking distance of the auction house, and the item was small, I bid regardless. Otherwise I'd have had to negotiate the 10 hour time difference and try phoning, or not bid. If a potential bidder does not have the capacity to leave an online bid or negotiate a time ...

Re: David G Smith Auction
The vendor sent dozens of screenshots of the Auction page that listed the shippers details to potential bidders. If it wasn’t found by yourself then that does not necessarily mean that it was absent.pennymachines wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 9:57 amThey didn't/don't.sentimental salvage wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 5:57 am ...they had contact numbers for shipping on their website

Re: David G Smith Auction
You suggested that they may be too busy.pennymachines wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 9:01 pm Enquiries were made a week before the sale but no responses were received. There's something wrong if they're too busy to answer standard queries about shipping and payment from would-be bidders.

Re: David G Smith Auction
To be honest, at the end of the day, I can see disgruntled bidders who either didn’t bother to bid or lost out because their bids fell well short of the hammer price. Rather than stressing out over it, try to forget it. I don’t see any other auctions so forensically examined on the forum. A col ...

Re: David G Smith Auction
If the Auctioneers told you that they were too busy to answer your queries then that would be bad form indeed. I’m guessing that you may have been put on hold so to speak, they had contact numbers for shipping on their website and Australia takes payments much the same as any other country, by card o ...

Re: David G Smith Auction
David G Smith did not respond to pre-sale shipping and method of payment queries. 🚩 The auction company responded to as many queries as they could pre sale, the vendor responded to as many as they could pre sale. There were literally hundreds as one can imagine, and only 15 business days to do it.

Re: David G Smith Auction
A major rationale for paying auctioneer fees is they handle all interactions with buyers, but presumably in this instance the machines remained at the vendor's premises? It does sound like an extraordinary shambles. The sale was handled by auctioneers after the items were removed from storage. They ...

and has been around since the auction. Well Simon, I think that makes it even worse! Spoke with my buddy who won two machines that I only just took hold on his behalf last Fri! He was pissed to hear what you just wrote!! Now this guy has been around the block, serious collector for 30 years and ...
