Re: Sega Bell Slot Lucky Devil Restoration

It's alive! I have it running on 220v, all issues resolved with the exception of the 'Lucky Devil' pay finger being off. 0.jpg Rotating the mount for the solenoid microswitch with the fingers at rest did the trick. Solenoid has power and works properly when feature is enabled. Feature turns on from ...

Re: Sega Bell Slot Lucky Devil Restoration

It's alive! That's fantastic! Here is what I am seeing and isnt making sense. Here is a video of my mech cycling. Note the switch is never touched, mechanism cycled or resting. Would you mind sending me a video of your machine in the same cycle? With how mine is setup, the only way that switch is be...

Re: Sega Bell Slot Lucky Devil Restoration

The switch is OPEN during rest. It closes every time the payout fingers are released, except in the single case of the 'no-devil' ORANGE, where it is kept open by an additional thickness of metal on the payout disc at that point. The switch is wired in series with the payout solenoid. When the feat...

Re: Sega Bell Slot Lucky Devil Restoration

This is open all the time when in normal non running state and only opens when the machine is cycled and the fingers pull back. When you say the switch is open in none run state, do you mean closed then opens when cycled and finger is pushed back (like by the orange bump)? Edit: to clarify, using o...

Re: Sega Bell Slot Lucky Devil Restoration

True, I was going based on the wiring diagram, it appears to be the same. I ran a multimeter on the switch as it's currently set up and the circuit is open (no power to the solenoid) unless the Melon is on the payline. That closes the circuit between the solenoid and the control box.

Re: Sega Bell Slot Lucky Devil Restoration

The hole you mention on finger two, I do not have for your info..... So on yours mech, finger two doesn't have any hole? That seems so odd, as it clearly actuates a microswitch. Why bother with the switch if it's always in the same state? Does your transformer have a rating or any other markings on...

Re: Sega Bell Slot Lucky Devil Restoration

I took some previous advice (a little bending never hurt anything) and I was able to bend it down. Mech is working like a champ now. Now that the mechanism is working good, I want to tackle the feature. Then I will disassemble and clean the entire mechanism and put it back together and begin working...

Re: Sega Bell Slot Lucky Devil Restoration

I went through and re-indexed all the reels and everything was good. I then tried to trigger the jackpot by spinning and stopping the fan, lining up the pay, and then letting the cycle finish. It is still hanging on the BAR-BAR-BAR. It was not when I indexed the reels, but I now realize that was bec...

Re: Sega Bell Slot Lucky Devil Restoration

After circumventing the anti-check device I’m back in business. Everything on the mech is operating as expected with one exception. The BAR doesn’t hit. Melon hits without issues. All other payouts match, but with the bar payout the finger doesn't enter the first reel. Doesn’t really make sense, as ...

Re: Sega Bell Slot Lucky Devil Restoration

Thanks, I think this is what’s happening. I adjusted the reels still hitting the same wall.... as soon as I trip that bar, I can push the finger the rest of the way and the reels don’t move at all, and the machine pays out.

Re: Sega Bell Slot Lucky Devil Restoration

In photo 3 the finger looks to be held back because the payout disc is slightly in the way. Is this the case? In photo 2 the lined up three bells appear to be at the back of the machine not in the payout position at the front. Why is this? Question 2 - The image was flipped, thanks admin for fixing...

Re: Sega Bell Slot Lucky Devil Restoration

The bells in picture 2 look roughly in the right position, but looking at picture 3 I assume this is the last reel disc (so left hand facing front) then it needs marginal adjustment up. Looking at picture 1, I see disc 3 is out by 3 or 4mm, so needs to be adjusted up. This may be an issue with the ...

Re: Sega Bell Slot Lucky Devil Restoration

Making some progress. I have the reels mapped properly, I am now almost 100% certain. I get payouts on every single cherry. The problem is, I am not getting anything else. It seems like the fingers are not entering the reel deep enough to trigger anything. Below are images of a 3 bell hit. Nothing w...

Re: Sega Bell Slot Lucky Devil Restoration

That is identical! Well if you do get it out, I’d be much obliged if you could measure the transformer output!

I haven’t had a chance to mess with the reels. Hopefully I can tomorrow.

Re: Sega Bell Slot Lucky Devil Restoration

Sorry, to clarify I have no knowledge of the electronics ever working. The plug has been cut off as long as I can remember, unsure if it has ever been used in the States. There are a couple of holes on each reel, one small one and two larger. I have attached the reel strips, unfortunately two symbol...

Re: Sega Bell Slot Lucky Devil Restoration

It's definitely grimy, it probably hasn't been cleaned in 40 years. The transformer feeds the box with the potentiometer on it, from there everything else is powered. The solenoid actually does have writing on it, this is the (albeit it much more modern looking) solenoid from the same company. All I...

Re: Sega Bell Slot Lucky Devil Restoration

I have attached some photos of the mechanism. It does not seem to be paying out properly at all. I get 2 coins occasionally randomly, nothing more. The reels definitely are incorrect, and i'm still unsure if the payout system is also partly to blame. I've tried manually lining the reel holes to trig...

Re: Sega Bell Slot Restoration

Excellent thanks! Just looking at that and thinking about it, the devil can't really be in the middle reel, as there would be no way for a finger to get to that wheel through the first wheel. Likely these reels are completely wrong. I will attempt to map them tonight.

Mills/Sega/Jennings Lucky Horseshoe/Devil/Chief

Hello all! I am new here, and recently acquired a machine that has been in the family for a while. The machine is a Sega Bell. I have found a few pics of the machine online, but nothing as far as how it operates and definitely not how to service it! There are very few markings inside the machine its...
