Re: Advice on Puritan Bell reel strips

Hi Paul.
Strips are metal. Numbers are printed directly on to metal. As there are no channels on each side to hold the strips, they use bent over metal tabs to hold them onto the reel hubs.
The Guy who you are doing them for may have to settle card strips stuck directly to the old metal ones??

Re: Ebay prices getting out of hand

You could always list it on here as I’ve heard it’s got thoughts of members and at £5 a go I don’t think you will beat that! I only tried once and didn't get one enquiry. :!?!: I agree eBay prices are ridiculous. Why anyone lets an auction run till the end is beyond me. In fact, as a buyer, it's a ...

Re: Ebay prices getting out of hand

We need a live physical Slotty Auction/Meet at least once a year to get some young blood on board, i personally think the hobby is in decline. I disagree, plenty of people coming into the hobby, and new blood is there. Probably not enough young blood, though, I agree. Most youngsters aren't into hi...

leading to the abandonment of slot machine manufacture in 1947 (the checkerboard was the last Watling slot machine which I guess is why it had the (by that time popular) single cherry payout. Hi coppinpr. This is not the case. I have a Watling Checkboard with Tic Tac Toe payout with a 1948 serial. ...

Re: Watling Rol A Top

As mentioned many times I am clueless to Watling machines and never owned one, but was curious as this machine has single cherry payout and on googling I noticed all I looked at had two cherries except the reproduction machines. Not saying this is a reproduction, but wonder if some did have single ...

Re: Morphy Oct 2023 Las Vegas

I went with two friends (non coin op collectors). Had a great time, although food and drink are awful expensive now. Bought a few items, all cheap imo. My favourite, and probably the best buy of the four items, was this Star Mfg Electro Hoist. Never seen one of these in UK and this was fully working...

Re: Tumbling Prices…

Would there be any chance that the weak pound and the strong dollar is causing prices of American-made machines to rise, rather than tumble. I have seen some Jennings go for stratospheric prices recently, Governors, in particular. They are not rare and even ones with scabby chrome regularly make mo...

Re: Interesting 1950 trade advert for chrome Hi-Top

Had to add this Jennings with a "live jackpot" jennings.JPG Here is an actual machine from my collection, indeed it is 1948. The live jackpot releases if the red light stays when you hit three bars. it is fitted with a one in three Cam which is quite generous imo. also has 1 x cherry 3 pa...

Re: No Thanks

Hi Penny machines Yes, I remember that chat now. Think I was with Roger Bates at the time. It was working when I bought it. All the vacumn lines had been replaced, however there was a leak in one of the coin sensing bellows which meant that one horse didn't pay off if it won, also cranksahft was out...

Hi pennymachines.
I bought the 1937 Paces Races at Christies. I still have it and works flawlessly. Could you tell me anymore about the Swiss collection it came from?
Thanks Nigel

A friend of mine had a mirror finish wrap on his car and WOW did it look good. It is dipped in a bath with film floating on top. So long is there are not too many contours, it looks like chrome and a MUCH better finish than chrome paint!

Re: Anyone want to buy a set of five Jennings machines?

I'll start the ball rolling, and perhaps I'm way out of line but a Jennings Prospector console recently sold in the US for $8,500 and that is a much rarer machine, so I'm saying $5,000 per machine with the Silver Dollar going for a little more... maybe.. .on a good day. :!?!: I would agree the 3 low...
