Re: Bad chrome

From my experience, the success of plating is in the skills of the polisher at the beginning who will attempt to grind out the pitted stuff but the risk of punching through the metal is a problem as it becomes very thin. As such the polisher will decide to cut their losses if they cant get all the p...

Australia has a 'pokies' gambling problem - Len Ainsworth Pic and Statement

Interesting story on the BBC about Australian gambling issue. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-australia-64898509 Most of us have or have owned an Aristocrat at some point with Ainsworth Industries stamped on the side plate. The amusing statement in the story is from the man himself, Len Ainsworth. ...

Re: Beromat Mech - Question

Have you checked if any winning symbols have been spiked? It was common practice to lower the payout % by bridging the gap on the disc and then altering the relevant symbol to a lose. As tree frog notes the payout cogs are Perspex . There is a 6 slide on the machine but no 6 win present on awards. ...

Re: Beromat Mech - Question

Thanks for your replies. I sat and observed payout sequences and actions of the payout slide release rod. On the symbols which were generally paying out lame if at all, I noticed the rod wasn’t moving as high as other winning symbols. I put a tiny bit of light sewing machine oil at the base of the r...

Re: Reel mech query

Likely it has mystery wins too. What is it chaps, orange melon bar, orange orange melon? Orange melon bar is definitely a mystery combo. Give it a go by hand and see if it pops out 10.

They vary. It's always a combination of orange, melon and bar, but some differ on how generous the combos are.

Re: National penny scale

They weigh an absolute ton and if the keys are missing, it's probably full of old pennies in the bottom. I seem to remember on this forum somebody getting hold of one and it was a treasure trove of old copper.

Re: Worn out kicker plate

Check that the teeth on the three discs are in line when the kicker engages. If they aren't then the kicker will skip and you'll get a misfire of sorts. Yes, I know from memory I had exactly this on an Aristo as one of the cog's teeth (far left) was worn down so it had a smooth curved edge; enough ...

Beromat mech - question

Topic moved & merged - Site Admin. Hi all. I managed to get into the loft eave containing some of my coin op stuff and fished out the Roma (Vale) with the Beromat mech. I've been fettling as this has been in storage for a while, being reluctant to payout etc and I had to familiarise myself with...

Re: Aristocrat Honey Bee Springs (Dazzler)

Probably the same size length as any other Aristo, such as Arcadian. You can always shorten longer lengths anyway by just creating the end loops.

Re: Been away for so long - what's been going on in slot world?

Thank you all for your kind replies, really appreciate it. As soon as this heat drops down I shall be heading the house eaves to retrieve another bandit to go downstairs. Just got 5 shillings worth of old uncirculated pennies still in a bank bag turn up from an ebay charity seller for a bargain £3.0...

Re: Been away for so long - what's been going on in slot world?

Thank you my friend, yes it was a rough patch, but hopefully I can take on any hiccups now with a breeze. First thing I did today was buy a big bag of uncirculated shiny old pennies off ebay as my wife has said I can install another 1D one arm bandit downstairs in the house. I can feel all the excit...

Been away for so long - what's been going on in slot world?

I've been away from here for sometime. I really don't know why, other than life passing me by, 2 lots of Covid, one bout of long Covid, one cancer scare and being diagnosed with a chronic pain issue that I've had for a year and will not get better, thanks to Covid. I worked as key worker all through...

Re: Brenco Wheel of Fortune challenge 1965 - kid vs machine

Well in the '70s the Wheel of Fortune in Harrisons Amusements on Bognor Regis seafront had an error whereby whenever the needle went on Lose, it would always, every time go on to 6p. As the arrow was constantly in rotation, regardless if you played it or not, I would just sit and wait discretely for...

Re: Aristocrat 'Golden Dragon' how old?

Crikey, have I really been on here 10 years, where did that decade go? Well hunting on the internet for Aristocrat Olympic and what comes up on first search is this old post I'm posting in here. For some reason and can't remember correctly, I think I swapped it with somebody on here for Sega hi top ...

Re: Sega Silver Victory?

Get some switch cleaner in readiness for the micro switches. I think from memory, there are two: one on the right side of mech that allows the anvil to engage so you can pull handle and spin reels, and one on the left for end of play. These switches work in unison; they also light up the insert coin...

Well I learned something there. I've got a basket case Arcadian in storage that I still haven't gotten around to restoring. I never knew these had that type of jackpot tube.

Re: Sega Silver Victory?

I owned one of these, the Victory without the header box. It's a Sega Windsor and I paid 75 quid for it in a lot better condition than that. The thing I didn't like about it was it actually didn't depict the HMS Victory, but more of a Mary Rose, a tudor ship from the 1500s heading up the Thames wher...

Re: Revamped Beromat-type bandits

It's unlikely to, unless I shimmy my way under a bus and Sally decides to dispose of all my crap. I bought it shortly after the Brighton J'box fair. It had gone through a couple or two owners in rapid succession before I got it. It had major issues with the mech and refused to allow coins anywhere ...
