Re: NEED A GURU PART II

If you are going to put the machine back to the old 1d coin, then yes, get a little label made saying "1d", or "one old penny. I think the machine will be worth more if put back to original coinage. There are some repro coin signs on Ebay UK, but they can be quite costly. :!?!:

Re: NEED A GURU PART II

Don't sand the cabinet. Clean it with methylated spirit to get the grime off, then buff it up with a bee's wax polish. Keep the original lock and get a new key cut. The lock only has 2 levers and is very easy for a locksmith to re key. Those locks are very hard to come by. The 1p sign (one new pence...

Re: Need a Guru

Could anyone with a 'Win a Gift' or 'Win a Prize' tell me the dimensions of the white box that is dispensed please? Its looking more like this machine was probably more like a choc bar of some sort. Hi Jimmy, How you doing my friend  I believe the gift boxes are 98mm x 49mm x 17mm. They will ...

As there is much debate as to the model of this machine !PUZZLED! and I should have mentioned this earlier !SORRY! If you look at the payout slide, the words "Gift Slide" are cast into it. As Oliver made about 50 different variants of the allwin machine, and also started to sell spa...

Re: Caley's 'Marching Chocolate' rail carriage vendors

I have had my detecting head on again. Old man with too much time on my hands! I have spoken with the team at the National Railway Museum in York. They told me they had never seen one before, nor do they have one in there collections, but between us we did manage to find an address for the co...

Re: Now here is a 1d coin slot you couldn't miss

A bit more trawling the old newspapers and I found this description of the machines from Oct 1930. They were quite small and would not hold many bars.
The first batch of machines numbered 200.

Re: Now here is a 1d coin slot you couldn't miss

Caley's chocolate was handed to the troops in WW1 as a morale booster as Paul says, and after WW1 it was marketed as a rival to Kendal Mint Cake. It was said to give you strength on your journey. When it came to WW2, apart from the shortage of coco hitting production, the factory was destroye...

Baloons' at 0:21 must be a rarity. Yes, although its rarity has just gone down by around 33%. I owned one for a good number of years, although I no longer have it. There are two collectors up north who have each owned one for many years, and as far as I am aware still have them, so that makes three...

Re: Jamieson/Streets et al. Snap bandits

Hello, I have recently started a project to restore a Snap arcade machine as described in this thread. I have a similar problem to scorpa163 in that one of the leaf switches that is activated by the drum is broken. In 2022, moonriver said that he had some, is that still the case? Otherwise, I will ...
