Re: The Forum's yearly check up

Couldn't agree more TF. I wouldn't touch Facebook et al with a barge pole but the information and help here has proved invaluable in my restoration projects. However the sheer knowledge of some members can be intimidating. I'm sure it makes some members wary of posting and risking their wroth (and s...

Re: Help needed on pinstripes and flowers on Mills War Eagle cabinet

Yes one 'engineer' on Salvage Hunters described rust as patina! It's all a matter of taste I suppose.

Re: Help needed on pinstripes and flowers on Mills War Eagle cabinet

Rubbing in a dark coloured furniture polish when the paint has dried, works well too.

Not sure of the size you need but there seem to be lots of leaf switches available in USA - less so in UK but https://www.mr-rcworld.co.uk/shop/searc ... eaf+switch does have one.

Unlikely to be M4. Much more likely to be Whitworth. Have a look at https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from ... s&_sacat=0

Re: Irksome screws unscrewed

I should have been clearer. My suggestion of applying heat with a heat gun was for a metal screw (or bolt) seized in metal not wood.
My restoration of a Brenner Ball past the arrow has certainly given me lots of practice!

Re: Brenner "Ball Past The Arrow"

I have just about completed the de-rusting and cleaning of my Brenner BPTA and beginning to investigate how the 'broken' bit of bent wire is supposed to function. I am becoming convinced that the bent wire is a later addition and a bit of a bodge. Originally it might have been a piece of steel plate...

Re: Irksome screws unscrewed

I find the application of a little heat works well. I use a heat gun to apply heat until the metal is too hot to touch. Then as Mr PM says, an impact hammer usually gets them out. As a last resort I drill them out but this often causes problems when trying to centre the drill on the screw head (and ...

Re: Not an Allwin but .....

What a brilliant idea. However the typical allwin has some gaps in the tracks. The ball is launched into the spiral and gaps allow it to spin repeatedly on an inner path until it loses speed and falls into a cup or returns to the start. I've attached a photo to help explain but I've no idea how you ...

Re: Brenner "Ball Past The Arrow"

Thanks guys. It's useful to know it is a mark 1. Would there be a patent drawing for it somewhere?
It really is confusing having numbers that don't relate to a payout (or anything else?).

Re: Ball past the arrow broken part

The payout is automatic (when it works). I have attached a photo to help identify the model. The knob on the left releases the ball and sets the arrow. Hope this helps.

Ball past the arrow broken part

Topic merged - Site Admin. I am restoring a Brenner Ball Past the Arrow arcade machine (it is very rusty and dirty). While dismantling it, I discovered the bent wire part shown in the photo. Can anyone tell me if it is broken, what it should look like and where the other end should go please? Any h...

Re: Bally Money Honey

You might be able to find a replacement lock (new or old) but, in general, it is better to keep the original lock and get a new key cut by a good locksmith. It often works out cheaper too and your machine will keep its value better as collectors like everything to be original.

Here is a nice compilation of Blackpool in the 1960s. Some arcade machines and lots of nostalgia.

Re: Ruffler and Walker - What's My Line?

It looks complete (what is that bit of string doing there?) so should be fairly easy to fix. I found some of the springs needed to be replaced in my 'Many Happy Returns' version.
Beware though: the chrome looks shot and that is expensive to replate.
