Sega Continental Grand Prix
I'm still on the hunt for a SEGA Continental Grand Prix but so far one is eluding me. I have to assume that if I stumble over a completely beggared one I could use my existing MK10 to build one out of 2? Obviously that's not ideal but maybe the way forward if a nice one doesn't come up Meanwhile, th...

Re: End-float SEGA Continental reels.
I may have exaggerated a fraction with 5mm but not by much.
Bent frames - entirely possible but nothing visible.
I have inserted two washers and I'm down to 1.5 mm or so.
Happy enough now.

End-float SEGA Continental reels.
Topic merged - Site Admin. Can anybody confirm my suspicion that there is a missing spacer in the reels of my SEGA Continental. (The parts catalogue does not show one) Currently there is maybe 5mm (or more) end-float, the 'payout levers ' shove the reels visibly to one side' but my assumption is th...

SEGA Continental MK10
Topic moved - Site Admin. Having cropped up last year full of enthusiasm for my Aristocrat Starlite, it was inevitable that its far from perfect external condition would be its downfall! Now the Aristo sits much loved in a pal's conservatory and I've been machine-less for a while. BUT... I knew som...

Re: Aristocrat Starlite queries
Since posing the question about the mechanism I decided that rather than relying on others I should jolly well learn about it myself! After downloading the later Model Aristocrat service manual and staring into the mechanism of mine for hours I've got a fairly clear picture of which bit does what an...

Missing stop bolt? Aristocrat Starlite
Topic moved & merged- Site Admin. Examining the mechanism for my Starlite I've noticed a large sprung stop on the outside. (It's on the the left side of the mechanism as you look at it from the front). Presumably this is to stop an over-movement of the lever that's pulled by the large horizonta...

Starlite sixpenny advice, a thank-you
Topic merged - Site Admin. Prompted by my enquiries about the incorrect pay-out amounts from my Aristocrat Starlite, those with more knowledge than me suggested that it had might have been 'converted' to new pennies with just the application of a 1p denominator badge to replace the old 6d one. Havi...

Thank you for that.. Completely understand ... Should nobody come forward.. I'll just have to use extra pictures of mine :burp: As I understand things... ok for an adult to buy and have at home for fun... illegal to sell without the appropriate license? I would of course be picturing privately owned...

As a journalist and an excited new owner of an Aristocrat Starlite I feel compelled to write about it. My colleagues at Old Glory magazine have said "yes please" so off I go. Getting 'as found' pictures is no problem... mine fulfils that quite nicely. Post restoration pictures are more of ...

Re: Aristocrat Starlite queries
There was apparently a 1p denominator (is that the correct term?) attached to it at one time (he handed this over with the machine).
But still pre-decimal... Yesss!!! To my mind far preferable!
Even as a newbie, it's logical that all the oddity with the pay-out adds up to it still being on 6d...

Re: Aristocrat Starlite queries
A stand... In the words of Frankie Howerd ..... Ooooh stoppit! It'll have to put up with the workshop bench Strong consideration of getting it on tanners though, maybe try and grub up 20 so I can give it a try for a full pay-out. Questions... 1. If it's not paying out the correct amount because its ...

Re: Top Tips for Newcomers
Magnetic Coins It occurs that newbies like me may not (I didn't) realise that later modern coinage is magnetic The composition of 1p and 2p coins was changed from bronze to copper-plated steel in 1992 and the composition of 5p and 10p coins was changed from cupro-nickel to nickel-plated steel in 20...

Re: Aristocrat Starlite queries
The kitchen table comment resonates... It's a veteran of my many dalliances. At least 4 clocking in machines, umpteen Kart engines and recently a couple of race-car cylinder heads that needed 'clean room' attention for measure and build! While resistance is probably futile I shall try to temper my e...
