Re: Which clown?

Hi Guys. Thanks for the info regarding the wood. I tend to agree and have cleaned up the case as best I can for now and will apply polish next. The sides are fairly good but the top has a couple of black stains, one of which looks the shape of a 'spam' tin!!. Think it must have been sitting on it fo...

Re: Which clown?

Hi all, I generally have been collecting Mills bandits for the past couple of years but got the 'allwin/drop case' bug at the Coundon Club auction just gone. (Fantastic do once again by the way!) Bought a couple that have certainly re kindled the fire again and also bought a bit of a case on fleebay...

Re: Last part of bandit cycle fails

Glad you fixed the problem. Something I'm sure I've come across after completing a rebuild. Couldn't initially understand why it didn't quite seem to finish its cycle. I went through every adjustment, spring, lever and pad/stop really concluding that everything was correct. Turns out a microscopic d...

Re: Mills screw/bolt sizes

There always seems to be the odd screw or nut/bolt missing from every machine you get. I’ve found eBay useful for that sort of thing as I hate replacing with modern incorrect bits even down to a screw!. Occasionally a chap from Vegas advertises a mixed batch which so far I have bought two bags. Usua...

Re: Import duty, shipping costs, etc. from USA

I seem to remember a thread regarding import duties etc. There was a 'duty code' mentioned reducing 20% to 5%. I tried it and it worked on a rather expensive machine from the States. People mention various delivery companies but I've found Fedex is superb. The clue is to get an account with them as ...

Re: Artwork on side of Mills bandits

Hi, Yes they were original to the earlier machines. There are plenty of pics on the web. I've got several machines that I would like to refinish the gilding to. I'd found a 'euro' site that actually had the stensils to do three different versions but when I recently tried to access the site again......

Hi guys, I picked one up from the Dutch boys several months ago. The bad bit was that it was delivered to a friend in Kent for safe keeping and have not been able to pick it up yet from Manchester!! :(

Re: Rare Mills Bandit in console case

I too think they were a 3rd party or customised hi-top. There's not much info on them. Page 185 of 'Slot Machines on Parade' recons 75 were made, however Robert Geddes also states the casino never opened!!.

Hi Terry,
Thought I'd send up some pics of the 'Silver Palace' after a little cosmetic surgery. Sorry the pics aren't that great!.

Re: War Eagle - reproduction or not?

Hi Gameswat, I agree......With the UK early models with the large fishmouth penny entry and probably rarely using a 50c escalator, I would have thought the slope an easier option in the early thirties. However, as 50c escalators came more widely used in probably the fifties and Mills would have been...

Re: Reproduction or not?

Hi, Looks genuine to me. Correct serial number area etc. Is it a 6d machine? Not sure that would be correct for a 1931 machine, although it does seem to be the UK top casting for the 1d. Something I'm not sure about... is that people always seem to believe that the 'run down' esculator has been tamp...

Re: Troublesome Child

Great machine. My first 'round' of collecting some 20+ years ago netted me one of these for just £30 from a local antique shop. Of course the same problems occured but still retain fond memories of a continuous learning curve whilst trying to get it right!. Probably never did as it happens but this ...

Re: Come out of hiding Ozzies..

I agree with you Andy. I think a move to see more dealers/collectors interacting with each other would re-vitalise the hobby. It has been suggested via another thread that a sales/auction site should be set up. I also think this is a great idea. This would enable us to all buy, sell or exchange piec...
