The crocodile made a very respectable £50! Incidentally the same price as both Bran Tubs (2 in the same lot).

If that had been in either of the forthcoming auctions over here £3,500 to £4,000, and that's pounds not euros.

Re: Coin operated fortune teller on ebay

I chose my words carefully. I have seen the machine before, and the old auction catalogue. I originally started this thread about the fake Meurice fortune teller which eventually sold on eBay for around £300. My comments were made in relation to your fortune teller's previous appearance on Ebay whic...

Re: Coin operated fortune teller on ebay

It's a shame the current seller still has the fortune teller listed on Ebay as "dates around the 1940s", as it clearly doesn't, especially given the £6,000 (not working) price tag. I seem to remember it being on eBay some time before and being sold with 'provenance' that it appeared in an ...

The bookies are still fiddling it with FOBT roulette in much the same way, except the difference nowadays is the bet on each game can be up to £1000 a spin, not a shilling! In exactly the same way punters can watch all their numbers come up when NOT playing live and then 'just miss' when they do, wi...

Re: Coin mech and timer for working model help please

I'm all for anyone having a go at making something, especially if it happens to be a working model! As you have indicated you intend to use low voltage so I don't share the concern of causing a fire. Generally a traditional design of your model should include an element of fun and surprise within it...

I believe that in practice the few antique arcades that operate in the UK do so under ad hoc arrangements with local councils etc. and quiet Gambling Commission acquiescence. Re 'antique arcades' the above sums it up in a nutshell, (may also depend upon how many feathers you ruffle in the vicinity)...

It brings back memories, I remember sitting on the front bench seat when my Dad drove our Bedford Dormobile through a ford, and seeing the water come up through the floorboards and going back down again. I thought we were going to sink.
