The thermometer on the one I remember was a translucent white, burnt to an orangey-red at the bulb end, where the lamp had been lit continuously for about ten years.

That's a rare combination for British use. Perhaps it was popular in Australia?

There's an Aladdin's Lamp pusher on a well-known auction site now.
It's by CAM Automatics, I believe, which is one of my favourite manufacturers.
I remember it from the time, but I won't have played it much.
