Hi People,

Thanks

Re: Arcade Photographs

The arcade owner didn't seem in the least bit interested that he owned some classics he concidered them as "the ones that had lasted" The Aherns Pile Driver is in remarkable condition and I remember playing on this machine in the early 70s. He has owned the arcade for 45 years and before ...

Hi Markymark, The answer is definitely 'Yes', although I haven't been watching their stock recently. The Powell brigade are well respected in the slot community and their machines are always of a very high quality. Take a look at some of their refurbishments and they are well worth the asking price....

Re: Hi Top Jackpot Missing

Firstly does anyone have any of these parts they they wish to sell,??? Not sure if this bit is in the right section as I believe you have to place 'Wanted items' in another section. To your second question, I would suggest that the dime (10c) option is your best although I suspect there is little d...

Re: Mad Melons

Hmm. Problem with this theory is that the top payout is definitely not melons but bells.

There were several of these machines at the Kursaal in Southend during the 70s.

Re: Supermatic 5 reeler bandit! most unusual bandit ever?

That is one weird bandit Dave. You have my vote but it isn't going to help you get it repaired. I have never ever seen one before. I would love to see it up and running and if anyone can fix it, you can................

Hi, I think you went to the wrong arcade. The Playbox is closed during the winter and its position clearly marked on the web site map. Sorry for the plug, but we never went away. Steve. Really? How strange as we went there in the summer and bar one 1970s Bally machine and two 1970s Bell Fruit elect...

Fine replies gentlemen. I had no idea that bandits being operated in the 50s were generally illegal. I've been trying to dig out some of the old pictures of bandits being operated in the arcades but have a mound of paperwork to sort through first. In any case, I am sure there were pictures in Mr Bra...

Great stuff guys but....

Are we saying that prior to 1960 all bandits were illegal? If so why are there bandits shown in 1940/s 50/s arcade photographs?

Why was the maximum payout 12d?

I have search through this site but to no avail as I know this question was asked before but can someone point me in the right direction of the relevant legislation that restricted the maximum payouts of old penny machines to 12d?

A point well made although for me Christies is far easier for me to get to than Blackpool! Have said that, I would rather go to Blackpool.

How about someone of influence speaking to Christies/BPB and trying to get them to run the auction at Blackpool?

Well if, as you say, they are making a loss, then we must forgive them for diverting to Christies - but then there is making a loss and carefully financial re-engineering - if you get my drift! How many flats per unit Sir?
Only kidding ....... I think!!!!!

That really is a big shame although I don't blame them for going to Christies based on the huge sums of money they seem to attract and the global exposure. No - I've change my mind! Yes - I do blame them! They are not exactly struggling to make ends meet and it would have been nice to see some of th...
