Re: Jubilee Riviera Golden Nugget

Just an update. I tried method 3 - unscrewing the big bolt on the right of the dog. I've given it a few whacks to try and encourage the arm upwards. It's not budging in the slightest. So I have tightened the bolt back up now to where it was before. I'm gonna have to try method 2 now. I'll free that ...

Re: Peter Simper

It's nice to read about these Peter Simper machines. It's nice that people have recollections of them. Also what comes over is what a happy ship it was there. People seemed to have really enjoyed working there.

Re: Jubilee Riviera Golden Nugget

Thanks guys. Yes, the one I couldn't move is the one in circled in yellow. But I can try what you suggested, as it sounds like this would be best. I was under the impression that by loosening the big bolt in purple, the arm would gradually come back up and then I would re-tighten the bolt again. But...

Re: Jubilee Riviera Golden Nugget

I'm struggling to get the split pin out, so am going to have to go for option 3 I think, loosening the bolt on the dog and giving it a belt. As there are risks involved, should I stand at the front of the mech as if you're playing the machine? Also, do I turn the bolt left or right? I would have pre...

Re: Jubilee Riviera Golden Nugget

I'm trying plan 2. I cannot seem to unscrew the cotter pin. How do you unscrew these things? It's looking more and more like I'm going to have to adjust the big bolt at the back and go for plan 3. To unscrew the big bolt, would I just use pliers and then turn the head of the bolt left, then hammer t...

Re: Jubilee Riviera Golden Nugget

!SLURP! Ha Ha yes the Dog And Anvil does sound like it definitely should be a pub. Couldn't find a pint of beer on the smilies, so we will have to make do with a glass of Pepsi for now. Im still trying to free the ratchet. The problem is there is a bit of the ratchet totally wedged into one of the t...

Re: Jubilee Riviera Golden Nugget

Ha Ha, yes youll be fine tucked away in Lincoln. Meanwhile on the news" man in Morecambe loses fingers, eyes and everything else whilst trying to free one armed bandit". I thought they were only meant to take your money !2CENTS! Yes I think that option of shipping to someone may be the way...

Re: Jubilee Riviera Golden Nugget

It's like the bandits are on strike, not allowing the arm to be pulled until their demands are met. I'll have a go later and report back, but yes I think it looks like I'm going to have to try one of the more dangerous options.

Re: Jubilee Riviera Golden Nugget

Ive had a go at trying to release the ratchet from the teeth to release the arm, but I cannot get it to budge. Ive taken a couple of photos of the area. They haven't come out that well unfortunately but it looks like most of it isn't stuck, though to the left hand side there could be one bit of the ...

Re: Jubilee Riviera Golden Nugget

That machine looks nice by the way. I was wondering which machine it was. The reel bands look really nice. Ive never seen those reel bands in a Jubilee before. The main Jubilees I have seen have been Mini Maxi, Noughts And Crosses, and one called Cashcendo, and of course Golden Nugget. Though I gues...

Re: Jubilee Riviera Golden Nugget

...As you said, I don't have a Jubilee, so does this indicate to you that the handle hasn't bottomed out ? Yes. I'm beginning to think I have been sold a bit of a pup with this machine. You haven't - these machines are old, they were built to last and are infinitely adjustable and repairable 99% of...

Re: Jubilee Riviera Golden Nugget

No, I don't get down to Lincolnshire now. I used to have a gran that lived in Sleaford which I think is very close to Lincoln. So many years ago I had visited Sleaford a few times. Ill have a go at the first of the three suggestions. I take it this is the smallish screw thing just behind the big spr...

Re: Jubilee Riviera Golden Nugget

I'd like to confirm that I haven't touched that big screw at all. I'm beginning to think I have been sold a bit of a pup with this machine. I'm now wondering from what you are saying if that is why it was making a big noise after every spin. It used to make like an engine winding down sound after a ...
